About this property

Built in the 17th century, this traditional, terraced Lakeland farmhouse is situated in Water Yeat, a small hamlet in the Crake Valley, just 5 minutes’ walk from the shores of Allan Tarn, and 10 minutes’ walk from Coniston Water in the beautiful Lake District National Park. With so much to see and do in the area, this cottage is perfect for families and groups of friends. Sitting in landscaped grounds and boasting stunning views from the front of the Grizedale Fells, the cottage oozes character and charm with stone flagged floors, huge oak beams and a cosy sitting room with a woodburning stove set into a spectacular inglenook fireplace. Completing the accommodation on the ground floor is a well-equipped fitted kitchen, whilst upstairs are two comfortable bedrooms, both with en-suite facilities. Outside is a typical cottage garden, a perfect place to enjoy the morning sun whilst planning the day’s activities, and a shared, rear lawned garden with wonderful views. From the rear of the cottage is a lovely walk up to Beacon Tarn, with access on to the Cumbria Way long-distance path, or, crossing the River Crake to Nibthwaite you can access the fells on the north side of Coniston Water. Alternatively, just a ten-minute drive away is the Lakeland village of Coniston where you can admire The Old Man of Coniston. For the outdoor enthusiast, Coniston has some excellent opportunities for fishing, sailing, kayaking, gorge scrambling and mountain climbing, however for a gentler day, you can always opt for a peaceful cruise on the steam gondola. This character cottage with its pretty garden is the ideal place to explore this mesmerising part of the Lake District.

The beautiful Coniston Water is situated to the west of Lake Windermere. To the northern end of the lake is the pretty village of Coniston and from there you can visit Hawkshead, Ambleside and Windermere, plus there are walks, mountain biking and climbing in abundance.
