About this property

Part of the acclaimed Ings Mill Park development, this picture-perfect Lakeland cottage lies just two miles from the village of Windermere. Dating back to the 17th century, Mill Cottage has a blissfully welcoming feel with its slate floors, exposed beams and stylish, comfortable furnishings. Surely the perfect romantic hideaway for any couple? Outside there are pretty shared gardens, and a sunny terraced patio ideal for enjoying a morning coffee or pre-dinner tipple. The cottage comes with private parking for one car.

Stepping inside the property, guests will be delighted with their choice. The sitting room is generous and bright. Picture windows allow the light flood in, and the crisp white walls, beautifully flagged floors and separated kitchen area are immaculate. The kitchen has been meticulously planned, allowing conversation to flow while meals are prepared in this modern and well-equipped space. Upstairs, the pretty bedroom comes with dressing area and modern bathroom, a tempting spot for a cheeky nap or relaxing soak after an exhilarating day in the fresh air.

The cottage is only a short walk from the award-winning Watermill Inn and microbrewery, and close to the popular village of Staveley with its super choice of places to eat, Hawkshead Brewery and enormous choice of walks. Staveley Mill Yard, home to a whole range of local food producers, craft shops and galleries, is a favourite with walkers and cyclists alike. The lively villages of Windermere and Ambleside are just down the A591, while historic Grasmere and picturesque Hawkshead are within easy reach.

The small village of Ings, with the lovely River Gowan running through it, is set just two miles from the popular town of Windermere in the Lake District. There is a selection of walks for you to enjoy in the area and a wonderful local, award-winning pub, the Watermill Inn. The vibrant twin towns of Bowness and Windermere hold enduring appeal for many visitors to the Lake District, both providing a range of attractions, amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes. That said the overall location is superb and the cottage’s saving grace. It would benefit from a refresh inside as everything is quite budget and well used. The fridge needs replacing. Other than that, it’s a great cottage to use as a base to explore the local hills.

Very popular location but disappointing for the price. Description does not make it clear this property is on a caravan site. Too many irritating items that need attention. Two key safes. One working . Why not remove the one that isn’t. Confusing when you arrive. In the bathroom only one light works. Reading other reviews been like this for months! Loo seat falls down. Shower is an assault course for seniors. No grab handles. No sink or bath plugs work anywhere. Bathroom or kitchen! Generously provide one loo roll. No spares. Light pull is a piece of string. Bed is suitable for Japanese visitors visiting Beatrix Potter sites. Bed very low more like a futon! In summary one to miss!

Two of the three lights in the bathroom had gone and the extractor fan was broken which made everything steam up. Only three coat hangers in the very small wardrobe . One of the lights gone in the lounge . The fridge needs upgrading as you can't regulate the temperature. The hob, cooker hood and shower weren't cleaned properly . Having said all this we enjoyed our stay and would go again. Oh if you have cereal for breakfast take your own bowls, theirs are tiny.
