Snaptrip says

Thorney How in Ambleside is a well-received cottage, praised for its ample space, comfortable bedding, and excellent location. Guests enjoyed the property's suitability for large groups, with special mentions of the well-equipped kitchen, cosy living areas, and the convenience of en suite bathrooms. The drying room was highlighted as a particularly useful feature. While some maintenance issues were noted, the overall sentiment was positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The property was generally found to be very clean upon arrival. However, there were isolated comments about black mold near an external door and dirt under the fridge, suggesting room for improvement in certain areas.

The location is highly praised for its proximity to Grasmere, walking access to the fells, and the overall beauty of the surrounding area. It is considered perfect for both relaxation and outdoor activities.

Guests found the beds and duvets in the main bedrooms very comfortable, and the property well heated. However, some guests mentioned that the bunk bed mattresses were hard and uncomfortable, which slightly detracts from the overall comfort score.

The facilities are generally well-regarded, with a well-stocked kitchen and ample space for dining and relaxation. Maintenance issues such as slow-draining shower trays and a problematic oven were noted, indicating a need for attention to these areas.

While the reviews reflect a positive experience with the property's amenities and the owners' responsiveness, there is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided to the guests. Therefore, a score cannot be given for this category.

The picturesque village of Grasmere, located in the heart of the Lake District National Park, is perhaps best known as the residence of William Wordsworth, who once referred to it as "the most beautiful spot that man has ever discovered." The Wilson family has been making gingerbread for over six decades at The Grasmere Gingerbread Shop. In addition, the village contains a number of shops, pubs, a 13th-century church, and Grasmere Lake. Every August, Grasmere Sports is held, where participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland wrestling. The town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere are only eight kilometres away, where you will find shops, pubs, and restaurants, as well as the Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed structures in the Lake District. Lake Windermere offers cruises, boat trips, and watersports, and the towns of Windermere and Keswick are within driving distance. Grasmere is an excellent location for a Lake District retreat.

Maybe a word to the council.

A few minor pieces of (I hope) constructive criticism - 1 some female members of the party would have preferred to have a shower with a head that could have been lifted off rather than fixed in ceiling; 2 The shower doors in loughrigg need to be mounted securely on their runners; 3 The listing describing the twin bedrooms is a little misleading - it should just read ‘one of the twin bedrooms doors not have en suite facilities’ - obviously they can choose whichever other bedroom they want share facilities with, but as currently described it gives the impression there is some special facility between the two rooms. And finally -this feedback is for Sykes (but doesn’t seem to be separate box for this) - When viewing properties one sees a pop up saying’ reserve this property for £20’ This is deceptive - it’s more than £20 isn’t it?

The facilities were great and the drying room a massive help as we had rain every day we were there. We had assumed, incorrectly, that the two twin bedrooms had an interconnected bathroom which was not the case. The 8th bedroom had no facilities and a long way to go for a loo in the night if needed! The living areas were spacious and the bedrooms comfortable. A great stay in a lovely area. The fire doors were a bit of a nuisance!
