Further afield, you’ll find Grasmere, home to the former home of William Wordsworth, Grasmere Brewery, and Dove Bistro. Adventure awaits at The Bay Cottage.
Ambleside, at the northern end of England's largest lake, Lake Windermere, serves as an excellent jumping-off point for excursions throughout the middle Lakes; nearby attractions such as Grasmere and the Langdale Valley make it easy to explore the region. Cruises, boat rides, and watersports on Lake Windermere are just some of the activities available, and the hamlet itself has lots of stores, restaurants, and bars to satisfy any taste. On Waterhead's lakeshore, the parkland provides beautiful views along the lake and a small beach, while a stroll in the opposite direction, along Stock Ghyll through the woods, leads to the hypnotic Stock Ghyll Force waterfall. In addition to the lake and the excellent hiking, Ambleside is well-known for its yearly rushbearing ritual and the little "Bridge House," built in the 17th century and now serving as a National Trust information centre.

A short walk to the Wateredge Hotel and bar. Car parking was limited to one car - we had an estate car which was tight to park in the space provided. Would return without hesitation!
