About this property

This stylish cottage-style apartment, set over two upper floors, enjoys a peaceful setting within Ambleside's prestigious Falls development, overlooking Stockghyll Falls from the fabulous upper floor living space, and is a 5 minute stroll from the village. There is lovely, calming atmosphere, thanks to soothing natural colours, & light streaming in. Private parking for 2 cars, including undercover parking. Steps lead to the first floor entrance hall, with space for your walking gear. The lovely, fresh bedrooms are on this first level (1 double and 1 twin) as is the luxurious house bathroom with shower over bath. Upstairs to the light and airy open plan living space, where sitting and dining areas have fabulous outlooks towards Stockghyll Falls. A sleek modern kitchen with granite finishes just off the dining area, is well equipped for home-cooking. A cloakroom provides access to a lovely patio and field garden. Walks begin in every direction, as Ambleside is a popular base for walking in the Lake District. The village is packed with tasty eateries and a wide range of contemporary shops - from useful supermarkets to quirky gift stores and expert outdoor clothing stores. By night, there’s plenty to do – cosy traditional pubs, special award-winning restaurants, a jazz club and 2 independent cinemas.

A nice walk from the village centre is Waterhead Pier, on the northern shores of Lake Windermere where you can hire a rowing boat, enjoy a drink or a meal overlooking the lake at the Water’s Edge Inn, or take an elegant lake cruise to Bowness or Lakeside - a great way to explore car-free. Windermere Lake Cruises depart regularly, and also offer evening cruises.

Ambleside is full of history. The tiny 'Bridge House' is one of the most photographed buildings in the area; sat on a bridge in the middle of the village. There’s also the remains of a Roman fort, Galava. One of William Wordsworth's former family homes can be visited nearby at Rydal Mount & Gardens. His Grasmere home, Dove Cottage, is also open to the public and only a short drive away on the A591. Over the spectacular Kirkstone Pass and you arrive in beautiful Ullswater.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.

He loved playing the games and exploring the garden area. The furniture was comfortable however, if you are 6 foot plus, the double bed will not quite cater for a comfortable sleep with the tail board. We will definitely be rebooking again to stay in this perfect location.

The property is in a beautiful location and a short walk into town, although the hills were a little steep in places and would be a problem for those with limited mobility. The cottage was spotlessly clean, very comfortable and well equipped with everything we needed for our stay, although no spare toilet rolls! The waterfall is quite loud from the bedrooms but it didn't keep us awake, and was quite soothing. We would definitely stay here again!

Cleaning team left only 1 toilet roll ,no kitchen roll.but plenty of cobwebs, owner be aware.apart from that it's a nice property overlooking a waterfall
