About this property

Nestled in the popular town of Ambleside, Cumbria, is this lovely ground-floor apartment, Pavey Ark.

Enjoying a superb location within the Lake District National Park at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, and an elevated position with exceptional views of the Lakelands, Pavey Ark is a fabulous choice for couples.

The property benefits from off-road parking for one car, and its own private patio with bistro table and chairs, perfect for alfresco dining with a backdrop of breath-taking views. Inside, you will find a well-equipped kitchen for rustling up tasty dishes, a dining table for four where you can enjoy long leisurely meals over a bottle of wine, and an inviting sitting area with a generous corner sofa and Smart TV, ideal for unwinding after a day of adventure. Continue through to find a sleek bathroom, where you can indulge in long soaks with your favourite book, before retiring to the sumptuous super-king-size bedroom, also benefiting from the stunning views on offer, with TV and a well-appointed en-suite shower room.

Explore the town, where you can treat your other half to a meal at The Old Stamp House, Lake Road Kitchen and Misto, stock up on essentials at the convenience store, visit a fascinating 2nd-century Roman Fort, tour the Armitt Library & Museum Centre, or hike up to see the beautiful Stock Ghyll Force. Continue onto Rydal, where you can wander along the steppingstones in Rydal Cave, and step in Wordsworth’s shoes at Rydal Mount & Gardens, or further along to Grasmere, where you can learn more about the great poet at Wordsworth Grasmere and the National Trust site of Allan Bank and Grasmere, sample local ales at Grasmere Brewery or follow the Grasmere Waterfall Walkways. A trip to the Lakes wouldn’t be complete without a trip to Windermere, where you can take to the waters of the famous lake via a plethora of watersports, tuck-in to fresh seafood at Hooked, tour The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, or soak up the views from atop Queen Adelaide’s Hill. All this and more awaits at Pavey Ark.

Ambleside, which is located at the northernmost point of Lake Windermere, is a great starting point from which to explore the middle Lakes. Grasmere and the Langdale Valley are also close by. There is a lot to do here, including boat tours, cruises, and water sports on Lake Windermere itself, as well as a wide variety of stores, eateries, and pubs in the hamlet to satisfy every taste. A little strip of beach and wonderful lake views can be found in the parkland at Waterhead, while a trek through the woods along Stock Ghyll will lead you to the captivating cascade of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the fantastic hiking opportunities, Ambleside is well-known for its yearly rushbearing ritual and the modest 17th-century "Bridge House," which is now the National Trust Information Center and one of the Lake District's most popular photo subjects.

Over the years we have stayed in apartments in all 3 blocks at The Lakeland’s and this was by far the best. From the super comfy bed and seating unit to the very well equipped kitchen what more could we have wanted. We will definitely be back probably at a later time in the year when hopefully we can enjoy the patio area in the sunshine.

Everything was as detailed in description of the apartment. Magnificent views, which is the main selling point of the property for me. Very short steep hill to village, nothing to be phased by. Will definitely return.

Tin opener didn’t work and couldn’t find chopping boards but a phone call remedied this. We did eventually find several boards hidden in a cupboard. Generally very pleased with the accommodation. This is the second time we’ve been and hopefully will return.
