About this property

This Victorian cottage enjoys a prime central Ambleside location in the heart of the village but in a quiet lane. Once the bottling house for local Jacksons Brewery, it’s now a stylish holiday home spread over 3 floors.

With modern open plan living, comfortable and cosy it’s a great place to call home for a few days. Entrance hall with slate floor then into the open plan living room/kitchen with comfortable furnishings, and open fire. The well-equipped granite fitted kitchen is off the living area and leads to a secluded furnished courtyard. Upstairs to the stylish bedrooms; on the first floor is a double bedroom with modern en-suite shower room, single bedroom offering flexible sleeping and family bathroom with shower over bath. Steep stairs lead to the attic king size bedroom. A parking permit provided allows free parking in one of 4 nearby car parks as well as free parking in 36 SLDC car parks around South Lakeland during your stay. There is also overnight on-street parking close to the cottage (disc provided).

Ambleside is well stocked with outdoor shops and walking information is widely available. Numerous famous routes begin close by and a wide range of walks take in breathtaking scenery without having to travel too far. Pretty shopping streets, traditional Lake District cottages and historic buildings nestle between high quality eateries. Ambleside is definitely a favourite for foodies! Windermere Lake Cruises depart within walking distance at Waterhead Pier. The elegant steamers provide seasonal, scenic routes to Bowness, Wray Castle, Lakes Aquarium, Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Trains and Lakeland Motor Museum. Evening cruises with music and buffet meals are also available in summer. By night, you'll find plenty to entertain. Catch a film at one of the 3 cinemas, enjoy a drink on the shores of the lake or a traditional local pub before sampling some of our region's finest dining which is all just a stroll from your doorstep!

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
