About this property

Please note that the owner can only facilitate an arrival on a Friday or Monday. Arrivals on any other day may be cancelled

Hidden on the outskirts of Grasmere in the Lake District National Park in Cumbria is Little How. This quaint dwelling boasts charming, character features such as exposed granite stone walls, feature fireplace with woodburning stove and exposed beams; it also welcomes up to four guests in two bedrooms making a great base for friends or couples seeking a romantic retreat in the Lake District. After exploring the surrounding countryside, settle into the plush sofas in the welcoming living room and flick on the Smart TV while the woodburning stove crackles in the background. Stay snuggled up while the designated chef whips up a tasty meal in the fully-equipped kitchen/diner then enjoy this together at the dining table that overlooks the garden and nearby woodland. Soak up the last of the sun in the shared garden or pop open a bottle of fizz at the picnic table and cheers to your getaway. When the evening draws to a close, retire either of the spacious super-king-size rooms serviced by a shower room with a beautiful feature stone wall and a sleek ground-floor bathroom. Be sure to get some rest before another fun-filled day in the Lakes. Little How is an idyllic setting for a memorable holiday in Cumbria.

The picturesque village of Grasmere, located in the heart of the Lake District National Park, is perhaps best known as the residence of William Wordsworth, who once referred to it as "the most beautiful spot that man has ever discovered." The Wilson family has been making gingerbread for over six decades at The Grasmere Gingerbread Shop. In addition, the village contains a number of shops, pubs, a 13th-century church, and Grasmere Lake. Every August, Grasmere Sports is held, where participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland wrestling. The town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere are only eight kilometres away, where you will find shops, pubs, and restaurants, as well as the Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed structures in the Lake District. Lake Windermere offers cruises, boat trips, and watersports, and the towns of Windermere and Keswick are within driving distance. Grasmere is an excellent location for a Lake District retreat.

The house had everything needed. Very comfortable beds and bathrooms were of a high standard. Excellent kitchen dining area with full facilities.

  • Joyce

Warm, cosy house with excellent facilities. Fab shower! Walking through the Lancrigg Estate next door was beautiful and easy access to Easedale Tarn. The downside was very poor internet. I am self employed so need internet access. The WiFi is shared with Thorney How and this is not ideal as it just didn’t work properly for us at Little How. Would return in a heartbeat if this issue is sorted.
