Guests that stayed at this property said

The cottage's cleanliness is generally well-regarded, though there are some concerns. Positive comments about the property being clean and well-presented are noted, but there are mentions of grubby sofas, cobwebs, and an unclean kitchen upon arrival. These issues seem to be exceptions rather than the rule.

The location of Hazeldene is highly praised by guests for its centrality and convenience, allowing easy access to local shops, cafes, and scenic walks. The ability to stay without the need for a car is frequently appreciated.

Comfort is well-received, with guests mentioning comfortable beds and a cosy living room. However, some guests note that the living room seating is limited and the sofas and mattresses could benefit from an update.

Facilities are generally good, with a well-equipped kitchen and quality bathrooms. The games room is a highlight. However, there are comments about the need for maintenance, such as replacing broken glasses and updating appliances. The provision of a parking permit is a plus.

There is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the hosts in the reviews, so it is not possible to assess this category. Therefore, the score is set to null.

This fabulously presented, mid-terrace house lies on a quiet lane less than a minute’s walk from the centre of Ambleside. With all the village amenities on hand, Hazeldene makes a lovely base for families eager to stay within the heart of this magnificent National Park. Internally, the property is spread over three floors and offers a contemporary décor and high quality finish throughout. Contemporary Oak and glass doors separate the lounge, stairs and dining room and maintain an

open and airy feel to the house. An open walkthrough leads osy place to unwind in the evening, complete with two plush sofas where you can catch up your favourite TV shows or simply watch the village pass through the traditional style wooden sash windows. An open walkthrough leads into the kitchen where you can take pleasure in preparing your home-cooked meals, courtesy of a well-equipped selection of appliances and underfloor heating to keep your feet toasty. Prepare the dining table and flick on the gas flame effect fire to add a subtle warmth to the room, before tucking into a delicious feast and toasting to a wonderful Lake District break. A door from the dining room leads to some stairs down to the basement where you find a games room with table football, table tennis, some book and games, which is ideal to keep the young ones occupied on a rainy day. Head to the first floor to find the master bedroom, enhanced with a king-size bed and neutral colour scheme, and served by a shower room with underfloor heating. The other bedrooms rest on the top floor and include a single and twin bedded, ideal for the younger members of the group, along with a luxurious bathroom with free-standing bath – perfect for a relaxing soak at end of your day. A small postage stamp garden/terrace rests to the front of the house and is suitable for outdoor eating at the picnic bench or stroll into Ambleside to find a range of eateries, as well as small supermarkets for picking up any essentials. Keen walkers can enjoy rambling around Queen’s Park, climbing Queen Adelaide’s Hill and walking the 3.5-mile route from Windermere to Orrest Head, where you can enjoy breathtaking views of Lake Windermere from the summit. This holiday home is also within distance of The World of Beatrix Potter, a popular children’s attraction which showcases the author’s tales in an interactive guided tour, plus there is Dove Cottage in Grasmere to visit – the former family home of William Wordsworth where he wrote the majority of his much-loved poems. With attractions to suit all ages and tastes, a stay at Hazeldene has great potential for a superb holiday.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
