Snaptrip says

Ecclerigg Old Farm is a well-loved cottage praised for its spaciousness, ideal location, and cosy atmosphere. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, utility room, and the bonus of a beautiful garden. The property's charm is enhanced by its suitability for families and pets, and its proximity to local attractions. While some guests noted areas for improvement, the overall experience is one of comfort and enjoyment, making it a recommended stay for those visiting the Lake District.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The property generally maintains good cleanliness, though some guests reported issues such as an unclean fridge and splashbacks, and a mask left on the floor. The majority did not raise cleanliness as a concern, suggesting satisfactory standards for most.

The location is highly praised for its proximity to Ambleside, Brockhole, and local services, making it an ideal base for exploring the Lake District. The convenience and accessibility to walks and attractions contribute to its high rating.

Comfort receives mixed reviews, with guests loving the property's cosy feel but criticising the uncomfortable seating and beds. The presence of a log fire and spacious rooms are positives, but the need for updated furniture is noted.

Facilities are generally well-received, with a fully equipped kitchen and utility room. However, there are comments about maintenance issues such as a problematic shower and washing machine, and the need for modernisation in decor.

The property's thoughtfulness is reflected in the provision of a Christmas tree and decorations for festive stays, and the inclusion of books, games, and DVDs. While these gestures are appreciated, they are not guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.

It is so close to Windermere and Ambleside so amazing walks so close no need to spend ages in a car getting to places. 6 mins from Booths supermarket in Windermere which was very handy The garden was lovely - I imagine in the summer that would be such a treat. Great parking, easy to find, plenty of room. Real fire Overall I loved it and would definitely stay again. It’s not ‘fancy’ but for the Lakes and dogs it is just perfect and with modern bathroom and kitchens honestly I can’t recommend this place enough

Thank you for making this break really easy and comfortable - plus the visiting deer made it extra special!

It was really warm and cosy, very spacious with all amenities and facilities you could wish for. As mentioned in the visitor book the shower does feel like it's going to overflow the cubicle but it doesn't. Bedding was comfortable, plenty of pillows and more than enough towels for us all for the week. In a perfect location to explore the area with the added bonus of a short stroll with free entry to the Brockhole visitor centre.
