Hawkshead is in the heart of Beatrix Potter country and is close to many of the famous sights such as Hill Top and the Beatrix Potter Gallery. Also nearby is the Grammar School where William Wordsworth was a pupil. The village itself is only a few miles from both Coniston Water and Lake Windermere, where you can enjoy boat trips and many water sports. For hillwalkers, the Coniston mountains with their fascinating copper mining history, provide a range of climbs and there is walking and biking from the doorstep, as well as mountain biking trails in the neighbouring Grizedale Forest. The village itself is full of charm, with quaint shops and cafes and a choice of traditional pubs serving lunch and evening meals. Stepping into the front door, you are welcomed into the immaculate open plan kitchen and living area.
