About this property

This delightful end-of-terrace cottage rests in a quiet part of Ambleside in the wonderful Lake District. Luxuriously appointed throughout, Amber Cottage is perfect for a couple who wish to break away from their normal routines and enjoy time together in one of the most desirable locations in the country. Upon entering the cottage, you will discover a generous open-plan living area with kitchen, dining area and sitting area. The country cottage style kitchen area boasts granite worktops, a breakfast bar and all the equipment you could need including an electric oven, gas hob, fridge and dishwasher. Stairs lead off the kitchen area to the stylish bedroom with double bed, views of the lake and en-suite bathroom with travertine tiles and a luxurious whirlpool bath, perfect for a soak after a day of wandering the fells.

The cottage has colour co-ordinated décor, fabrics and furniture throughout, showcasing lots of attention to detail and personal touches. Enoy spending quality time with your loved one around the warmth of the woodburning stove, watching a film on the television, or take a car game to the dining table for some fun-filled competition. A shared patio to the rear of the property provides a calming spot to enjoy a drink, whether it be a refreshing morning coffee or a well-deserved glass of wine in the evening. Head down the hill into Ambleside to find an excellent selection of independent shops, pubs and restaurants, along with water activities such as the lake cruises, as well as the infamous Bridge House, one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District is not far away from this charming holiday home.

A variety of walking routes can be found from the door, including Fairfield Horseshoe, Wansfell and Loughrigg or easier valley rambles for a more leisurely stroll, all without the need to use the car. Further outdoor activity can be enjoyed at Grizedale Forest, including several cross country and mountain bike trails, Segway treks, Tree Top Adventure and a high wire course at Go Ape, if you’re brave enough! Venture towards Low Wray, on the opposite side of the lake, which houses the National Trust property of Wray Castle, dating back to the Victorian era with grand rooms and stunning lakeside grounds.

Amber Cottage is a romantic bolthole providing an excellent base for enjoying all that the Lake District has to offer, all-year-round.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
