About this property

Tucked away in the historic town of Kendal, Cumbria, is this wonderful first-floor apartment, River Walk. Enjoying a superb location on the outskirts of the Lake District National Park, and just moments away from the local amenities and River Kent, River Walk is a fantastic choice for couples or a family of four. Be welcomed into the light and airy open-plan living space, where you can cook up a storm in the fully-equipped kitchen, ready to savour a delicious meal at the dining table for four over a bottle of wine. After dinner, retreat to the sumptuous seating, where you can kick-back and relax in front of a much-loved show on the Smart TV. Continue through to find a contemporary shower room, where you can wash away the day’s adventures, before retreating to one of two well-appointed double bedrooms, one of which has a TV. Explore the town, where you can enjoy leisurely strolls along the River Kent, visit the historic Kendal Castle affording exceptional views out towards the Lakeland fells, tour Kendal Museum, spend a fun-filled afternoon at Kendal Snowsports Club, wander the Quaker Tapestry Museum, test out your swing at the excellent Kendal Golf Club, or treat your loved ones to a meal at Sapore, Bangkok 7 Thai, and Farmhouse Kitchen. Venture into the Lake District National Park to find Windermere, where you can try your hand at a plethora of watersports on the famous lake, soak up the views from Queen Adelaide’s Hill and Orrest Head, visit the popular World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, or head to the neighbouring Bowness-on-Windermere, where the foodies of your group can enjoy the Michelin Star delights of HRiSHi, Gilpin Spice and Henrock. Further afield, you will find Ambleside, home to the stunning Stock Ghyll Force and a 2nd-century Roman Fort, and Grasmere, where you’ll find the former residence of William Wordsworth. All this and more awaits at River Walk.

Located on the banks of the River Kent, Kendal is often referred to as the "Southern Gateway to the Lakes" and is a mediaeval market town with a stellar reputation for shopping. Its 12th-century stone ruins of Kendal Castle dominate the skyline from atop a hill, and the town's charming main street is crisscrossed with charming, cobblestone side streets. Portraits by George Romney, a Kendal native, works by Turner and Ruskin, and other shows made possible by the gallery's ties to the Tate make Abbot Hall Art Gallery well worth a visit. Limestone escarpments for easy walking offer breathtaking vistas of the Lakeland Mountains, the Howgills, and Morecambe Bay, and both Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall, with its superb Topiary Garden, are located in close proximity to the area. Kendal is ideally situated for day trips to South Lakeland, the Yorkshire Dales, and beyond. Kendal is a great place to set up camp for a vacation because it is close to the Lake Windermere and the rest of the National Park, as well as the Kendal Museum and the Museum of Lakeland Life, both of which feature fascinating exhibits, as well as the beautiful Quaker Tapestry.

Flat nicely appointed with everything you need, a nice big TV and comfy sofa. Mattresses not great for us but that’s a personal choice, overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend if you want to stay in town.

A good base for visiting the towns in the lake district, because of the good bus service, Maybe the owner could get another shower mat as getting out of the shower was a bit slippy, apart from that it was a great shower and stay.

They loved the apartment. It was tastefully furnished, warm and cosy, with everything you would need away from home, and lots of choices for eating out, and entertainment, within an easy stroll. I requested a baby cot and highchair, and these were in the apartment on arrival. Gaby even put up a christmas tree for us. Correspondence with the owners was easy and very pleasant. I would highly recommend this holiday apartment, and I would definitely look to book here again in the future. Thanks Gaby. You are a super-host.
