Lantern is a converted 16th Century Lakeland cottage situated in the very heart of Hawkshead village. The cottage offers a wealth of beams, lovely cottage furnishings, a modern kitchen, bathrooms and picturesque views over the surrounding hills from the 2 main bedrooms. An excellent base for those wanting to explore the mountains and lakes or simply wander around the flower-filled lanes and cobbled yards.
Set just behind the main square right in the middle of the village close to shops and plenty of places to eat and drink without using your car. The front door leads directly into the lounge with two comfortable leather settees, TV, DVD and CD player. The wood burning stove with oak lintel, original oak cupboards and warm decor make this room cosy and welcoming. There is a window seat with cushions, dining table and chairs. The newly fitted kitchen at the rear of the cottage is very well designed to provide a built in electric oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave and washer/dryer. The back door leads into another of Hawkshead's little cobbled squares with a shed for bike storage if required.
Stairs lead up to the first floor with a family bathroom which has an electric shower over the bath, W/C and basin. The master bedroom has a king-sized bed and pretty co-ordinated fabrics and a stylish ensuite with double shower cubicle, basin and W/C. Another flight of stairs leads up to another 2 pretty bedrooms...one single with a pull out bed if required and one twin.
The cottage is heated by gas central heating making it ideal for all year use.
There is a parking permit provided for 1 car in the main village car park.
There is a small cobbled area in front of the cottage with a wrought iron bench and pots of seasonal flowers...ideal for relaxing with a cup of tea and watching the world go by!

Lantern Cottage is located in the centre of Hawkshead so it was exciting to see the stalls being set up for the christmas market, which was the highlight of the weekend. Atmosphere was fabulous along with great food in all of the pubs.
