This is a fine example of a 17th century Lakeland barn that has been converted to form two charming homes in an elevated position overlooking the Esthwaite Valley and the picturesque village of Hawkshead. Situated down a quiet country lane, under 2 miles from Hawkshead and close to Ambleside for shopping and eating out.
The owners have added many personal touches to create a homely and welcoming atmosphere. The cottage provides a popular cosy hideaway for all year round use. For walkers there is a wide variety of routes from low level walks to more challenging mountain walking all within easy access.
A sunny entrance porch with Lakeland slated floor and window seat leads to the dining room with dining table and chairs. The living room is comfortably furnished, with TV with Sky Freeview, DVD, CD player, telephone and wood burning stove and access through french windows to the garden. The Spacious kitchen is well planned and equipped to a high standard with large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer, double oven and separate electric hob and microwave. The King sized double is en-suite with shower, wc and washbasin . There is pretty twin bedded room across the corridor from the family bathroom which has a bath with overhead shower, washbasin and wc. Old Barn has central heating throughout.
The south facing garden with table and chairs has beautiful views across the valley.

Spacious, well equiped, warm and dry. The utility room and porch were very handy with all our walking and dog gear.Good location for local amenities, pubs and treking in the fells. Small enclosed garden perfect for the dog. The woodburner was very efficient and the provided logs were very welcome especially as it was very cold. We used the local milk delivery and the Cumbrian Way food suppliers to make our lives easier. Would recommend at any time of the year. A great base for exploring near and far. A home from home. Thank you

We had a wonderful stay in this perfect cottage. So well equipped with everything we could ever need. Such good value for money with logs provided and the best bit of all was the drying cabinet (we did some kayaking) would definitely recommend and would stay here next time. We have stayed in many many cottages in the lakes and this was the best one.

Had a lovely time staying in this quite cottage with beautiful views, very clean and well maintained, didn't need to take anything but towels and food which is a must because to eat out in the pubs is very expensive and the only local shop is the co-op a few miles away. I would highly recommend the cottage, It made us feel everything had been thought of and provided to make our stay as relaxing as possible.
