About this property

Cartmel 3 miles. Nestled in the little village of Newton in Cartmel, a few miles from Cartmel, is this newly renovated semi-detached property, Ashwood Cottage. Boasting a tasteful interior, enclosed garden and well-equipped facilities, Ashwood Cottage invites families and their canine companions for a memorable escape to Cumbria. Head inside and prepare delicious meals together in the large kitchen/diner, hosting all the essentials for a week away, before cosying up in the lounge, complete with a Smart TV, underfloor heating and a woodburning stove for that extra touch. Find the cloakroom for convenience, or head upstairs to the bathroom for a freshen up. As sleep calls, choose from two king-size rooms, one with en-suite shower, or a pretty twin. Head out and enjoy a moment in the rear garden, relaxing at the decked furniture whilst the little ones and your pooch play on the lawn. Head out the door and take a short walk to the Heft restaurant, offering a flavoursome menu and a hearty Sunday lunch or for a more decadent experience the restaurant L'enclume boasts three Michelin stars. Hop in the car and head three miles to the charming village of Cartmel, where you can visit the medieval priory, wander through the winding streets and browse the many independent shops before sampling the famous Sticky Toffee Pudding, whilst the vibrant market offers an assortment of local produce and creates a lively atmosphere. For those seeking a touch of excitement, the nearby Cartmel Racecourse provides a thrilling day out, whilst the surrounding region is filled with walks and hikes through the serene countryside. Just a short car journey away is the fell foot car park and Lake Windermere, perfect for a range of watersport activities, see what the hustle and bustle is about at Bowness or hike up the might Stock Ghyll Force. All this and more awaits at Ashwood Cottage.

The historic, South Lakeland village of Cartmel is renowned as the prettiest village in the Lake District. The Priory Church, one of the finest ecclesiastical buildings in the north of England, remains the heart of the community with its gatehouse forming the entrance to the village. The village features pretty streamside walks, quaint cobbled streets littered with antique shops, a charming gift shop, welcoming, traditional pubs serving real ale, the nationally acclaimed, Michelin Star awarded L'Enclume restaurant, and the Cartmel Village shop, which sells the famous sticky toffee pudding. Take advantage of excellent walking opportunities amidst beautiful, unspoilt countryside, visit Cartmel Racecourse, Campbell Legend Bluebird Exhibition, Lakeland Motor Museum and Holker Hall with its spectacular gardens, all of which are close by. The quiet seaside retreat of Grange-over-Sands, with its Edwardian buildings and mountain backdrop, is a mere 2 miles away, whilst Windermere, with its panoramic views over England's longest lake, is within a thirty minute drive. A superb holiday destination, at any time of year.

Relaxing, comfortable and well appointed. Plenty of space, location good, parking can be an issue if neighbours park outside and road narrow for access, but would certainly stay again. Not far from Grange, and South Lakes.
