Snaptrip says

Tipsy Gin Cottage is consistently praised for its cosy atmosphere, comfortable large bed, and beautiful views. Guests appreciate the property's cleanliness, convenient location for exploring the Lakes and Furness coast, and the warm welcome from the owner. While some minor issues are mentioned, the overall sentiment is highly positive, with many guests planning return visits.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Guests frequently mention the cottage being spotlessly clean, indicating a high standard of cleanliness. The repeated commendations for its tidiness contribute to a near-perfect score.

The cottage's location is celebrated for its tranquillity and proximity to local attractions and dining, with easy access to the central Lakes and Furness coast. Some guests experienced difficulty finding the property due to signage issues, slightly affecting the score.

Comfort is a highlight, with numerous guests complimenting the large, comfortable bed and the cosy feel of the cottage. The overall experience is described as relaxing and homely.

The cottage is well-equipped, with a practical kitchen and a welcoming wood burner. However, some guests noted the absence of a washing machine and the compactness of the bathroom, suggesting room for improvement in facilities and maintenance.

Many guests mention receiving a welcome pack, which adds a thoughtful touch to their stay. However, as not all guests reported receiving this, and to manage expectations, it's noted that such gifts, while appreciated, are not guaranteed.

About this property

Damsons grow in numerous orchards right across the Lyth Valley and have for generations been used to make damson gin - hence the name Tipsy Gin Cottage. The mother of the current owners was one such distiller, who each autumn used a special family recipe to make the rather potent spirit. Today, Tipsy Gin Cottage is a luxurious cottage with bags of character and charm and that is a popular retreat for couples wanting to soak up the beautiful countryside that surrounds it. Inside there is cosy living space, a farmhouse kitchen, a smart bathroom and a sumptuous king size bedroom - the perfect place to kick back and relax.

Situated alongside a traditional whitewashed farmhouse in the Lyth Valley, now included on the Lonely Planet’ Beautiful World List list of “most beautiful places on earth”, Tipsy Gin Cottage is around 20 minutes away from Lake Windermere and Bowness and a similar distance from the village of Cartmel, a foodie heaven, home to the famous Sticky Toffee Pudding and the acclaimed and Michelin award winning restaurant L’Enclume named as Britain’s Best Restaurant four years in a row.

More great news, The Punch Bowl at Crosthwaite, The Bowland Bridge and The Masons Arms are all a few minutes drive away or less than an hours walk

Crosthwaite is a small village set in the picturesque Lyth Valley, famous for its damson trees, and boasts a lovely pub known nationally for its excellent food. The lakeside towns of Windermere and Bowness are nearby, with plenty of activities, interest and entertainment for all ages. Also within easy reach is the popular market town of Kendal, an historic Lakeland town with a fine reputation for shopping. Kendal nestles on the banks of the River Kent. Its old cobbled lanes and byways branch off the attractive main street, and the stone ruins of 12th century Kendal Castle sit perched on a hill with views over the town. Both Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall with its superb Topiary Garden, are nearby, as are limestone escarpments for easy walking, offering thrilling views of the Lakeland Mountains, the Howgills and Morecambe Bay.

poorly signed out side ,sat nav unavailable,no sign, found it in a small out building later. not everyone comes hear in a car so it would be a good idea to have some milk available either in fridge or them small pots arrived late and not a shop close by. hate to be negative but above would improve stay and experience.

Enjoyed every minute of it. If you’re looking for a short countryside break away from all the hustle and bustle, then this is the place to explore. Also bumped into owner nearby and had a friendly chat, seemed lovely!
