Dove Cottage is a beautiful detached, Lakeland cottage with beams and many original features. The owners have created a welcoming, comfortable hideaway combining modern day comforts with old world charm. Formerly 2 cottages, they have been combined to create 1 cottage with 2 staircases each leading up to 2 bedrooms at either end of the property.
Set in the little hamlet of Far Sawrey and having a beautiful, sunny private garden this is a cottage we know our guests will fall in love with.
The door leads into the dining room with woodburning stove and beams. The large dining table is perfect for family meals and there and access to the kitchen and breakfast room. The kitchen is compact and well designed to allow for an Everhot Aga type cooker, bulit in fridge/freezer, dishwasher and microwave (washing machine/ dryer and freezer in utility room). There is a light and airy breakfast room with windows on 3 sides overlooking the garden.
Off the dining room there is a downstairs bathroom with a bath with hand held shower, basin and wc . Upstairs at this end of the cottage there is a pretty double and a twin bedroom.
Downstairs there is a comfortable living room with the original range with open fire and a bread oven, plenty of seating and a large flatscreenTV with Sky Freeview and DVD player
Stairs lead up to another double bedroom, single room and bathroom with shower, basin and wc.
The cottage is heated throughout by night storage heaters.
Outside there is a beautiful, very private, south facing garden with patio area - great for al fresco dining and a lawn for the children to play and a summer house (young children will need to be supervised as there is a steep sided stream which runs along the bottom of the garden). There is off road parking up to 4 cars by the cottage.

Dove cottage is a family friendly, comfortable cottage in a very peaceful spot. Great place to relax and enjoy a holiday with family. The layout of the cottage was perfect for us and being able to use the open fire and the Aga proved entertaining! Watching the birds in the garden and the sheep on the hill was a very relaxing way to spend time. It is only a short walk to the local pub and not far to Hill Top either. The ferry link to Bowness being so close was a great way to cross the lake and get to the attractions, shops and villages on the other side of Windermere without spending time in the car. Although the bedrooms are not large they had comfortable beds and the storage spaces were plenty big enough. The bathrooms were good, I think recently upgraded, and the showers were very good. The kitchen was well supplied with everything needed, we just needed to allow time to conquer the cooker. Overall the cottage was a wonderful home from home where we all had a wonderful week.

a beautiful cottage in a lovely part of the Lake District - Dove Cottage is a delightful place to stay. The facilities are excellent. It combines space and comfort with homeliness. It is very well equipped and has the most beautiful secure garden and a lovely outlook. It is in a quiet and relatively undiscovered part of the Lake District even though Beatrix Potter's house is only a mile up the road.

Lovely family holiday in dove cottage,wonderful setting with walks through the fields my grandsons enjoyed looking for wild life.The cottage was very comfortable everything we needed,the garden is lovely.Holiday was a great success enjoyed by all.
