About this property

Perched in the charming lakeside village of Glenridding, resting between Penrith and Windermere in Cumbria, is this lovely old miner’s cottage, 10 Halton Terrace. Enjoying a superb, elevated position in the Lake District National Park, with exceptional views over the surrounding mountains, and with the local amenities right on your doorstep, 10 Halton Terrace is a fabulous pet-friendly choice for couples or a family of five. The property benefits from an off-road parking space, and a wonderful front patio, where you can enjoy your morning coffee with a view! On rainier days, you don’t have to miss out on the views in the conservatory/porch.

Be welcomed into the inviting sitting room, where you can relax on the plush seating in front of your favourite show on the TV, whilst your pooch takes up their favourite spot in front of the crackling open fire. Continue through to the kitchen/diner, where you can whip up tasty dishes, ready to savour at the dining table for five over a bottle of wine. Completing the ground floor is a handy utility and a cloakroom for your convenience. Head upstairs, where you will find a well-appointed shower room, ideal for freshening up at the end of the day, along with two tastefully decorated bedrooms, a double and a single.

Follow the stairs up to the second floor where you will find the final bedroom, a family room with double and a single. Explore the village on foot, where you can enjoy lakeside strolls, stock up on essentials at the convenience store and enjoy hearty pub fare at Travellers Rest. You can also enjoy breakfasts at Fellbites, sweet treats at Helvellyn Country Kitchen, and home brews at Let It Brew. Hire canoes, motor boats and rowing boats to take to the waters of Ullswater, and enjoy plenty of nature-filled walks with your furry companion. Next stop is Aira Force Waterfall, a popular tourist attraction where you can admire stunning natural scenery or even indulge in a picnic on warmer days.

From your doorstep, you can also find plenty of walking trails or even try your hand at fell walking to fill your days, amble along the Ullswater Way, embark on a challenging hike up Helvellyn, known as England's favourite mountain climb or simply enjoy the fresh air and great outdoors! All this and more awaits at 10 Halton Terrace.

Glenridding is a picturesque village that sits on the southern shore of Ullswater in the beautiful Lake District. There's a gas station/convenience store, a place to eat, and several unique bars to choose from. You can relax on a leisurely cruise on one of the Ullswater Steamers after a day of thrilling outdoor activities, and some of the pubs offer stunning views of the lake. The Greenside Mine, a lead mine from the 18th century that sits above the village and is the reason for the village's continued economic viability, is a popular destination for mountain walkers. Bowness and Windermere, the beautiful twin towns just over 12 miles away, offer a wide range of activities and attractions that are suitable for people of all ages and interests. This charming Lake District community is the perfect place to spend a memorable vacation with loved ones.

The short walk up and down from Glenridding is worth it for the position and panorama. The hosts kindly provide kindling etc for the lovely fire in the sitting room.

Walking down to the village takes a few minutes, where there are two well-stocked shops. It is a clean, comfortable, warm and homely house - well equipped with all you need for a weeks stay - you can cook proper meals in the kitchen with all that is provided, and the living space is spacious to relax in the evenings. Views are fabulous! Hoping to return.

Kitchen/diner at the back of the house, so dark. We would have liked a table in the front room that we could have eaten at, while looking at the view. Comfortable bedrooms. Only just enough crockery provided. Ok for 2 but could be difficult for more people .
