About this property

This charming, detached cottage stands in an elevated position within the tiny hamlet of Hartsop, in the central Lake District fells. Commanding superb panoramic views towards Brotherswater and beyond, this romantic bolthole promises both a relaxing and active holiday for you and your loved one. Weavers Cottage is a locally important building and due to the historic character of the building and its prominent position, it is protected by the National Trust. Built over two floors, you enter this chocolate box cottage into the hallway where you can dust off your boots and hang your coats before you get comfortable. Stairs lead to the attractive open-plan living area, boasting cruck beams to support the pitched roof and five windows to ensure excellent views all around. Get the woodburning stove roaring while your partner finds something to watch on the TV, with a plush settee to sink into after a day of tackling the fells. When you’re not eating out at one of the many pubs in the village, there is a well-equipped kitchen to support your home-cooking, with an electric oven and ceramic hob, microwave, fridge, freezer and even a washing machine for your convenience. As the evening comes to a close, the bedroom can be found down the stairs, housing a double bed and attractive wooden furnishings for storage. A refreshing bathroom is the final piece to the interior, with a bath and shower over so you can best decide how to prepare for the day. To the exterior is a south-facing garden which catches the sun all afternoon and evening, as well as providing an idyllic place to enjoy your morning coffee or lunch. Walkers will be in awe of the magnificent footpaths that pass by the door, including routes towards High Street Ridge, Hayeswater and Angle Tarn. A very pleasant day out can be enjoyed on the beautiful Ullswater, one of the largest lakes in the National Park, with steam cruises to Howtown, Pooley Bridge and Air Force, it provides easy access to many points of interest. You are also not far from the popular towns of Troutbeck and Bowness, situated to the east of Lake Windermere, while Hawkshead and Grizedale can be found to the west. Weavers Cottage is a charming base that promises a romantic trip to remember.

The delightful hamlet of Hartsop lies in the Patterdale valley. It has retained its historic image with charming 17th-century grey stone cottages and working sheep farms. Hartsop is right in the heart of the Lake District and in the midst of some of the finest walking country that the area has to offer. It is a popular starting point for hill walkers climbing on the High Street range and the Helvellyn range. The village is overlooked by Brock Crags and Hartsop Dodd. It is a great centre for touring to all parts of the area and would provide a pleasant place to unwind. Ullswater Lake is less than 3 miles away giving you access to sailing, kayaking, and lake cruises. A mile from Hartsop is the small and remote lake of Hayeswater which serves as a reservoir for the town of Penrith.
