Each of the eight ensuite bedrooms has its own personality, most with super king-size beds (some of which can be split as twins) and one with built-in bunk to delight both young and old. Eskdale Mill, a beautifully restored working watermill, offers a glimpse into the area’s heritage also just a leisurely stroll from the house.

For train enthusiasts young and old, the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway is a must - this scenic steam railway within walking distance offers a delightful journey through the valley, connecting Eskdale to the coastal village of Ravenglass, home to a Steam Railway Museum and the Roman Bath House. From your doorstep, a network of trails beckons walkers of all abilities and this is a superb area for cycling (bike storage and washing facilities are on site). Cyclists and hikers alike will enjoy the scenic Eskdale Trail, a route known for its picturesque views and rewarding climbs. For the truly daring, a drive over Hardknott Pass, one of England’s steepest roads, leads you to the fascinating Hardknott Roman Fort, just 5km away.
