Nestled on the quieter side of the English Lake District this cottage has good access to the the northern fells, especially Skiddaw, and the Cumbrian coast, the Solway, and Carlisle. Great for a relaxing break yet close enough to the hills for all types of thrills.
The cottage is about 6 miles from the pretty market town of Cockermouth, 12 miles from the tourist hotpot Keswick, 12 miles from the coast, and 20 miles from regional city of Carlisle. Armathwaite Hall wedding venue is close.
The space, there is ample front garden for soaking in the view, a spot of al fresco dining, or just running off some energy after being cooped up during the journey.
There is a very well equipped kitchen perfect for preparing the epicurian treats that can be found throughout the region.
Whilst tranquility is the cottage’s specialism it retains strong links to the rest of the world via its full fibre internet connection, so you will be able to order supermarket deliveries right to the door
The front drive has parking for 3 cars.
There is a small covered stream running though the garden which can add to the background sounds, but please be careful of small people making big splashes.
Surrounded by mixed farmland the garden hosts a wide variety of wildlife, making it perfect for nature and bird watching.
The popular wedding venue of Armathwaite Hall is only 3 miles away. However the taxi/lift sharing can take a bit of planning. Also there is no Uber services in this part of Cumbria as far as we can tell.
Guest access - Its the front garden and front drive that is best for guests, plus we don’t mind if you wish to potter in the orchard if you want to get in a tangle with the brambles. There is a little area out the back for access to the clothes dryer/washing line or a bbq, turn right out of the rear porch. This overlooks our property.
Other things to note - Please avoid parking on the road, it might seem quiet but the area is still working farmland, and there is often large farm machinery or large farm animals needing to get about.
The main bin is out the back door on the left.
There is open water in the property grounds.
