Guests say

Hawthorne House is a well-received holiday rental with guests praising its spaciousness, cleanliness, and well-equipped facilities. The property offers beautiful views, a comfortable setting with easy-to-operate heating, and a convenient location for exploring nearby towns and the Lake District. Guests appreciate the thoughtful touches, including a welcoming gift from the host, and the proximity to good pubs and eateries.

Guests consistently note the property's cleanliness, with remarks on its tidy state. However, there are minor comments about the need for a more thorough cleaning of kitchen cabinets and the oven, as well as a mould issue in the washing machine's soap compartment.

The location is highly praised for its quietness, beautiful surroundings, and proximity to local attractions such as the Pheasant Inn, Bassenthwaite Lake Station, and nearby towns. It is also appreciated for its accessibility to the Lake District and walking trails.

The comfort of the property is well-regarded, with guests mentioning comfy sofas and beds, spacious rooms, and a well-equipped kitchen. The presence of a boot storage area and a boiler room for drying gear adds to the comfort level.

Facilities are generally appreciated, especially the kitchen equipment and the views from the mezzanine. However, there are suggestions for updating the cooker and addressing maintenance issues like the mould in the washing machine's soap compartment.

While guests mention a welcoming gift from the host, there is not enough information to assess the consistency of such gestures across all stays. It is important to note that while these touches are appreciated, they are not guaranteed for every visit.

The place was spacious and clean and had everything we needed from beautiful views, easy to operate heating, games, books, kitchen equipment, chairs at the door to take boots off and on easily, comfy sofas and beds, spacious, clean and easy to operate shower....so many things that made it perfect. Stayed in Hawthorne house last week. Property is very clean and tidy, good equipment and in a quiet location. Having the 1st and 2nd floors of this mezzanine property gives great views to the front as well. Nice boot storage in the porch on the ground floor was a bonus. Nearby Pheasant Inn is superb, great food and drink.

It’s been my fourth visit and I will definitely be coming back.I particularly like the quiet location with the option of visiting great towns like Keswick. The pheasant inn is a 10 walk which I would recommend fully and bassenthwaite lake station is 5 minutes away which does a full menu of delicious sandwiches and cakes
