Guests say

Hawthorne House receives high praise for its spacious, clean, and well-equipped accommodation, offering beautiful views and a peaceful location ideal for exploring the northern Lake District. Guests appreciate the comfortable beds, ample kitchen facilities, and proximity to local attractions and pubs. The property is particularly suited for walkers and families. Some mention the number of stairs and occasional maintenance issues, but these do not detract from the overall positive experience. Thoughtful touches, such as welcome gifts, are appreciated but not guaranteed.

Cleanliness is consistently highlighted, with guests describing the property as spotless, tidy, and well-maintained. A few minor comments mention areas for improvement, such as deeper cleaning of kitchen appliances and the washing machine, but these are rare and did not impact overall satisfaction.

The location is frequently praised for its tranquillity, scenic views, and convenience for exploring the Lake District, with easy access to Keswick, Cockermouth, and local walks. The proximity to a good pub and public transport is also noted as a significant advantage.

Guests find the house very comfortable, with spacious rooms, cosy living areas, and comfortable beds. Some mention the property can be cold in the bedrooms and note the number of stairs, but overall comfort remains a strong point.

Facilities are well regarded, with a well-equipped kitchen, good heating, and useful amenities for walkers. Some guests mention the cooker could be updated and note the number of stairs, but the overall provision of equipment and space is highly rated.

Several guests mention thoughtful touches such as welcome packs, a bottle of wine, and helpful information booklets. However, as these gestures are not guaranteed for every stay, future guests should not expect them as standard.

Fantastic house in a great location - handy for Cockermouth and Keswick as well as lots of walking routes, and bus stop literally 1 minute walk from front door so left the car at home on a couple of occasions. Spacious and well equipped house with parking right outside. Just off the main A66 but very quiet. Everything we needed and comfy beds for a good night's sleep after miles of walking. Will definitely return next time we come to the lakes.
