The dining kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to enjoy your stay, and completing the first floor accommodation there's a smart period style walk-in shower and wash basin, plus a separate cloakroom with wash basin and WC. Upstairs are three bedrooms, all with their own TV, and two with an en-suite. The two double bedrooms enjoy spectacular views and en-suite bathrooms with wash basin and WC, while the pretty twin room has its own vanity unit with wash basin.

A particular feature of your stay at Somervell is access to the superb wooded estate with its lawned gardens and putting green. Nestling on the lower slopes of Skiddaw, the views are simply spellbinding over Derwentwater and the fells, whilst the panoramic views from the summit of the 931-metre peak must be seen to be believed. Private parking for your cars is provided.

Applethwaite is a pretty Cumbrian hamlet just over a mile from Keswick with its shops, bars, restaurants and visitor attractions. There's a diverse range of experiences to be enjoyed, from the King Kong climbing wall to a cultured evening at the Theatre by the Lake. The Puzzling Place and the mystery trail will keep children enthralled while a trip to the Lakeland Distillery or a day at the Keswick Cookery School will interest the adults. Whether you choose to go sailing or cruising on Derwentwater or relax and explore Wordsworth Country, there's so much to see and do within a few minutes drive.

Keswick is an ideal base for exploring the North Lakes but if you want to see the biggest of them all, take a trip over the scenic Kirkstone Pass to Lake Windermere, where a trip on a steamer and a visit to Beatrix Potter World will delight all the family. History buffs will love a trip northwards to historic Carlisle with its magnificent castle and cathedral and then onwards to the Roman forts and Hadrian's Wall.
