About this property

No.2 Waterloo Street is an attractive, semi-detached cottage resting in Cockermouth, Cumbria. A great base for families hoping to explore the Lake District, this traditional dwelling has a stylish interior with high-quality facilities, a private, enclosed courtyard, and local amenities on its doorstep. Park up on the roadside and step into the welcoming sitting room. Two plush sofas invite you to relax, whether that's with a good book or your favourite show on the Smart TV, whilst the woodburning stove gently warms your feet. Next door, the dining room has a table for five to plan your holiday adventures over a hearty breakfast or dine on winter nights by the warmth of a second woodburning stove. Completing the ground floor is the fully equipped kitchen sure to please the family chef; an electric double oven, gas hob, microwave, dishwasher, and coffee machine make for an easy self-catering holiday! There's also a washer/dryer to throw in your outdoor gear after walks or hikes through the Lakes. You'll find a pristine, contemporary bathroom on the first floor for hot showers or bubble baths, before winding down in one of three bedrooms; a master king-size, twin, or single, each thoughtfully appointed with storage space and home comforts. Start your day in your private, enclosed courtyard with outdoor seating to bask in the morning sunlight with a cup of coffee. The cobbled streets of Cockermouth have plenty to offer such as Aspava Turkish Restaurant, The Bitter End pub, and Fermento for family-friendly Italian cuisine, as well as plenty of shops, walks along the River Derwent at Memorial Gardens, and the Castlegate House Gallery. Head into the Lake District to explore the Bassenthwaite Lake National Nature Reserve, exotic animals at Lake District Wildlife Park, or perhaps you've come for scenic hikes up Skiddaw, Grisedale or Scafell Pike? Be sure to visit the vibrant market town of Keswick for wonderful attractions all year-round, whether that's Keswick Museum, Theatre By The Lake or panoramic vistas from the Castlerigg Stone Circle. There are plenty of walks around Derwentwater and the surrounding countryside, as well as the nearby sights of Moss Force and Scale Force waterfalls. Alternatively, a short drive from Cockermouth brings you to the coast with Maryport, Workington and the Solway Coast AONB. However you spend your holiday in Cumbria, a warm welcome awaits at No.2 Waterloo Street.

Cockermouth, a little country market town in the calm north-western region of the Lake District, is only 13 miles from Keswick and is mainly unexplored and pristine. Wordsworth's Georgian family home, on the main street, is now a major visitor attraction, owned by the National Trust, and is the birthplace of both William Wordsworth and Fletcher Christian (of Mutiny on the Bounty fame). Cockermouth has a nice selection of stores, pubs, and restaurants, but the area's major draw is the stunning landscape and superb walking opportunities in the northern lakes - Bassenthwaite Lake, Ennerdale Water, and Derwent Water.
