Bassenthwaite Lake is great for walks, bike rides, picnics and sailing, while 4 miles further south on Derwentwater, a 50 minute lake cruise stops at the seven landing stages including Ashness Bridge and Lodore. For amenities, Cockermouth is just 8 miles away and offers a good selection of independent shops, cafes and restaurants.
