The dramatic ridge of Red Pike, High Stile and High Crag overshadows the lake itself while on the other side of the valley Whiteless Pike, 1 mile away, and Grasmoor, 2.5 miles away, reward their climbers with yet more breath taking elevated views. Or if you d rather stay low, follow the footpath that runs around the perimeter of the lake before a restorative bite to eat in one of the two pubs, the cafe or ice cream parlour in the village. Meanwhile, more amenities can be found in nearby Keswick and Cockermouth, both 10 miles away.
