About this property

Holding a convenient spot on the ground floor of an historic Victorian School House, built in the early 19th century, is this lovely studio-style apartment, Garden View. Resting in the quaint, Herefordshire village of Kington, at the centre of many scenic walking routes, this self-catering cottage is the ideal base for those looking to see the best of the Herefordshire countryside. Make your way through the owner’s private multi-level garden, and climb the steps to the entrance of Garden View, entering into the kitchen/diner area where you can look forward to making a hot cup of tea after a brisk country walk. When you want to impress your other half with some cooking skills, whip up a tasty dish to be served at the dining table and enjoy a romantic meal, before retiring to the sitting area next door. Here you can find a plush sofa with a TV resting before it, perfect for a film night, while the windows provide views of Bradnor Hill and the countryside beyond.

Across from this area, rest in the double bed to recharge for another exciting day ahead, and on rising the next morning wake up with a refreshing shower in the neat bathroom. With many walking opportunities around, this delightful spot in the village of Kington makes Garden View a lovely choice for a holiday in Herefordshire. Note: This property is part of a group and can be booked with Ref. 4338, together sleeping 4 to 6 guests.

She showed us the flat and was very helpful. The flat is at the back of the property with steps to negotiate but is well lit. There is everything you need to make your stay comfortable and warm (we had snow briefly) Kington is a very small town steeped in history with friendly locals. Nearby are shops, pubs and places to eat out. Plus an 18 hole golf course. Parking is available free, close to the flat. Would be more than happy to stay here again.

I found the cottage owners unfriendly and difficult to get hold of. I had to contact Sykes twice to complain and resolve issues. On arriving at the property it was not clean and I have photos of pubic hair left in the shower soap dish, food left in the fridge, dirty grill pan etc. The sofa is very uncomfortable as it sinks right down so far that I had to put two pillows under the seat to avoid getting chronic back pain. The floorboards creak loudly when you walk about and using the cold tap makes a whooshing sound, neither of which bothered me but obviously annoyed the owners who live upstairs who started deliberately making noise and banging above me whenever I used the kitchen. I have recordings of this on my laptop. The advertisement is misleading as the pictures show just five steps to go up to reach the property but you have to go up those steps, down a long corridor through another outside door, down some more steps round across another path and up a load more steps to reach the actual property. This wasn't too bad in daylight but I hurt my foot slipping down a step I couldn't see when it was dark one early evening. This property wouldn't be suitable for people with mobility issues. That said, the Brecon Beacons were beautiful and the mountains, lakes and waterfalls well worth a visit. It's quiet this time of the year and the mountains had snow on them which added to the breathtaking views.
