Offering stunning views over the Wye Valley and towards the Brecon Beacons, this stunning Grade II-listed property has been imaginatively updated to make a fantastic holiday home for groups of friends and larger families. Offering stylishly decorated and beautifully furnished accommodation for up to eight guests the characterful retreat retains plenty of original features including exposed timber beams (including a rare medieval cruck frame), vaulted ceilings and flagstone flooring. Set in a secluded rural spot, this idyllic hideaway sits close to the Powys/Herefordshire border and provides an elegant and relaxing base for discovering the magical surrounding countryside.
This stunning property offers a handsome formal dining room and two beautifully furnished lounges, each with a wood burner and timber beams. The light-filled kitchen has vaulted ceilings and a central island, with a useful, fully-stocked pantry. There's also a handy boot room, a children's snug area, and a spacious ground-floor double bedroom with an en-suite shower room and doors opening onto the grounds. The three remaining super-king-size bedrooms - all with beautiful wooden beams - are on the first floor, reached via two separate staircases. Two of the bedrooms share a lovely bathroom, while the third has its own en-suite bathroom. From the kitchen, patio doors lead onto a beautiful canopied terrace providing a relaxing spot for dining alfresco. There's further seating and a firepit nearby, and you're welcome to explore the extensive grounds which feature a children's treehouse and manege which has been made up as a football pitch.
The cottage lies north of Hay-on-Wye (3 miles), a bustling market town known for its literature festival and numerous second-hand bookshops. The Brecon Beacons National Park is immediately to the south, offering miles of spellbinding walks and cycle trails. Also nearby are Bronllys Castle, Black Mountain Adventure and Cwmmau Farmhouse, all within 10 miles.
