After a tiring day exploring the coastline, look forward to a soothing bath to relax and rejuvenate.

Resting on the property's front door is the magnificent Headland beach where guests can while away the day listening to the waves crashing against the sea wall. Follow the coast until the reach the Heugh Breakwater where the brave among you can walk along it out into the open water; a truly breath-taking place to admire the far reaching and uninterrupted views across the North Sea, on clear days you can even see across to the town's other beach Seaton or as far as Redcar!

Stroll along Hartlepool’s historic quay and make a stop in the fascinating museum, housing large exhibitions which tells the story of Hartlepool from prehistoric times to the present day, including the steel, coal and fishing industries. If you an ardent fan of Brenda Blethyn in Vera you will probably identify a number of places on the Headland and wider afield on Teesside which are used. There is even a day out you can book visiting the places in the North East where the series has been filmed! And before you settle down for the evening, just make sure you are not missing out one of the fabulous sunsets from the promenade. Outdoor enthusiasts can stroll, jog or cycle along the Promenade immediately outside the house, walk or beach-comb on the adjacent beach, or go rockpooling within a couple of minutes walk. Further afield there are walks along the banks of the banks of the River Tees or the Durham Coastal Path.

Wildlife enthusiasts will enjoy a visit to the RSPB's flagship reserve at Saltholme or Teesmouth Nature Reserve, home to a diverse range of habitats and offering plenty of bird-watching opportunities. The Headland is renown amongst twitchers as one of the top migratory birdwatching hotspots, and attracts a wide range of birds throughout the year. Terns, waders, seaduck, geese, gannets and guillemots abound and with patience and binoculars you can occasionally see dolphins and porpoises from the house! Head further north to the cathedral city of Durham and explore the quirky shops and award-winning restaurants, as well as the historic attractions including the Romanesque cathedral. Newcastle is also within a easy journey for a day out in the north's leading city. With plenty to see and do in the area, this coastal dwelling has everything you’ll need for a seaside holiday to remember.

The property is well equipped and close to local amenities with some good walks nearby, particularly along the beach to crimson dene which has a lovely cafe. My only criticism would be that although we slept well the mattresses could do with upgrading.

    Great location overlooking the sea.

The view was wonderful. I did find the single bed to be - little uncomfortable - I found it squeaked quite easily with small movements and felt I could feel the springs in the mattress when I laid down. We found the parking was fine - always able to find a space. Loved the location - perfect for what we needed.
