Guests have enjoyed peaceful stays at Halfmoon Wood, appreciating its cleanliness, the lovely log burner, and the hot tub. The property offers a great base for exploring Newark and its amenities. While some minor issues were noted, the overall experience was positive, with the hosts being friendly and the accommodation providing a rustic charm.
The property is generally described as clean and tidy, with only a minor mention of cake crumbs outside, which does not significantly detract from the overall positive feedback on cleanliness.
The location is praised for being scenic and a great base for visiting nearby towns. Its proximity to Newark and its amenities is also appreciated, although there is a lack of activities for young children in the immediate area.
The accommodation is considered comfortable by guests, despite a mention of it being a bit draughty. The provision of linen and towels adds to the comfort level.
Facilities like the hot tub are well-received when working, but there was an instance of it breaking down. The property is described as a little run down for the price, suggesting room for improvement in facilities and maintenance.
While there is a mention of a potential offer of a bottle of wine or a free night due to the hot tub issue, it is not clear if this was followed through. As such, there is insufficient information to score thoughtfulness, and it is important to note that such gestures are not guaranteed.

When we arrived (around 4pm ish) the hot tub was still being filled. Once filled, it broke. The engineer did come the following morning to fix it. Lesley was lovely and very apologetic and did say she would ‘sort something out’ for us and even mentioned nice bottle of wine or a free night. We had travelled for 2.5 hours so a free night wouldn’t be ideal if having to return, and it was booked after our stay (so unable to stay an extra night). For the price, we expected a little higher spec.. the lodge was a little run down, but it was clean and comfortable.. there were cake crumbs on the seating outside and lots of wasps (can’t be helped). When we left, Lesley was busy and didn’t come to say goodbye or discuss the issue with the hot tub. We paid £500 for 2 nights, I would say for the price we’d expected better amenities (having stayed in lots of similar places) I would not say it was worth £250 a night.. more like 100-150 a night. We also found that there wasn’t a great deal to do in the surrounding areas for the kids ages 4-6.

Lovely little cabin very rustic bit draughty on a night but not uncomfortable. Hot tub clean and in good working order, the hosts were very friendly. Newark just a short drive away for amenities, would definitely recommend this place.
