Coarse fishing, shooting, archery, plus knife and axe throwing are available 200 yards away at Woodend farm complex and there are many good cycle routes and walks throughout the area. The immediate surrounding land is classed as a conservation area, and 3 miles away is Hardwick Hall, as is Sutton-in-Ashfield, which is home to a leisure centre with an indoor swimming pool and ice rink. Newstead Abbey and Sherwood Forest are also close by. Explore the nearby Peak District, spend a day at Chatsworth House, follow the Five Pits Trail or simply enjoy the stunning views either from inside the property, or outside on the decking. There is a games room for both children and adults. In the village, there is an 18-hole golf course available an a day rate. Conveniently, there is a boarding kennels and cattery close by, where day boarding is available by arrangement with the owners. The games room is exclusive to this property, also adjacent to the property guests have access to 3 acres of public recreation land. The owner of the property lives in the annex which has its own entrance, should you require any assistance. Shop ¾ mile, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

Our second time staying at Woodend Bungalow. Very easy to find. House was a nice size for the 6 of us. Owner had left us milk, tea and coffee plus a very tasty homemade cake. Easy walks from the house using the many tracks from the old railway line. We were unfortunate with the weather so the games room plus table tennis was welcome when we couldn’t go out. Tesco of Coop were a 10 min walk or 3 min drive. Woodend pub just down the road was convenient for lunch, with a lovely carvery menu, staff there were very friendly and helpful. Overall a nice break for us.

Had the best time here. Such a lovely place. It’s equipped with everything you need and more. The kids had a super time. The games room was brilliant and kept the kids and big kids entertained. On arrival Pam was so welcoming and even baked us a cake. The place was very clean and even though it accommodates dogs, there were no signs. My niece is allergic to dogs and she didn’t have a flare up once. I can highly recommend this place and we hope to visit again next year.

We have had a great family get together weekend in Wooden Bungalow.The bungalow is prepared to host 10 people comfortably, with enough cooking utensils, cutlery, plate, cups, glasses and whatever you can think of. Tables seated comfortably all of us with enough chairs and table space. Very comfortable sofas and lots of space for everyone to hang out too. 4 bedrooms, with comfortable beds and enough space for cloths for much longer then the long weekend. 3 bathrooms, with showers and baths and perfectly hot water all the time. there is access to washing and drying machines, additional fridge and freezer and lots of games in the game room. Pam - the owner, was helpful, fast reacting and very nice. Thank you once again for your hospitality!
