At first glance the lodge looks lovely but as the week goes on you come across a few issues. In short our family of 3 Christmas stay was uncomfortable.. if your thinking of booking if consider reading the longer version The kitchen starts strong with a Quooker tap that’s loose, unpredictable, and ready to put on a show. In the bedroom, the thermostat has taken a bold stance against traditional wall-mounting, now precariously hanging from the mirror. The cooker setting I was told to use as the fan oven setting didn’t work was a combination of oven and burnt by grill.The light switch in the living room deserves a standing ovation—or perhaps a safety warning. The furniture ties it all together. The settee looks nothing like the photos on the Hoeseasons website and is joined by a chair straight out of IKEAs restaurant Don’t overlook the ensuite shower. Fancy a warm shower? Well, first, you’ll need to hike over to the boiler and manually crank up the heat. Overall, if you enjoy troubleshooting your stay as if it’s a poorly coded video game, this lodge is the place for you. Bring your toolbelt, blackout curtains, and a healthy dose of humor—and maybe a wetsuit for the shower. Would I stay again? Only if I wanted to test the limits of my patience and privacy at the same time.
