The Coach House in Matlock is a charming and quirky cottage, praised for its peaceful location, thoughtful touches, and well-equipped amenities. Guests appreciated the warm welcome, including fresh bread and other provisions, and found the property ideal for exploring the local area and Peak District. The bedrooms and showers received positive feedback, though some found the living space compact and the driveway narrow, especially for larger vehicles. Overall, the cottage is well-suited for couples or small groups seeking a cosy retreat, with attentive hosts and easy access to local walks, shops, and eateries.

Most guests found the cottage spotlessly clean and well maintained, though one review mentioned a neglected driveway and exterior. The majority of feedback highlights a high standard of cleanliness inside the property.

The location is frequently praised for its proximity to local walks, shops, pubs, and the Peak District. Guests found it convenient for exploring both Wirksworth and the surrounding countryside.

Guests found the beds comfortable and the cottage warm and cosy, especially with the log fire. However, several reviews noted that the living space is compact and may feel cramped for four people, with some mentioning uncomfortable sofas.

The cottage is described as well-equipped, with modern kitchens and powerful showers. Some guests missed a washing machine and downstairs toilet, and a few noted maintenance issues such as a narrow driveway and steep stairs.

Quirky little cottage in a lovely location.Perfect for two but would be cramped for four - the sitting area was uncomfortable for two with two small hard sofas so would not be good for four. The stairs were steep too, and parking tight for a large 4x4, while the price was a bit steep for a small property. All that being said, the owner was close and helpful, the kitchen was well-appointed, the welcome pack was very welcome, the hot water was plentiful, showers powerful, bed comfortable, the town was a short easy walk away, there was free parking just over the road and scenery was superb. We would stay again, but only as a couple.

A clean and well equipped cottage. However, the ambience is destroyed by the very neglected, dirty, untidy and extremely narrow driveway approach. The outer door to the property would do justice to any 100 year old slum, whilst the tiny porch/hall with 3 doors and the narrow, steep, turning staircase makes the property unsuitable for any but the most agile. There is a fire detection and alarm system which provides light 24 hours a day, making it unsuitable for bedrooms. Instructions are provided, in the kitchen, for how to silence the 'alarm' should it be a false alarm but there is no indication of where these instructions can be used (panel on the staircase?).
