Guests say

Catmint Cottage receives high praise for its cosy, homely atmosphere, spacious rooms, and peaceful location ideal for exploring the Peak District. Guests particularly enjoyed the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and the beautiful meadow and stream opposite, which is perfect for dog walks and relaxation. The welcome packs and festive touches were much appreciated. While most found the cottage clean and well-maintained, a few noted minor maintenance and cleanliness issues. Overall, guests found it excellent value and would happily return.

Most guests found the cottage clean, tidy, and comfortable, though a small number mentioned issues such as dog hair, mucky floors, and stained mattress protectors. These were exceptions rather than the norm.

The location is frequently described as fantastic, peaceful, and ideal for exploring local attractions like Matlock, Bakewell, and Chatsworth. The nearby meadow and stream are a highlight, though some mention the road can be busy.

Guests consistently mention the cottage's cosy, warm, and homely feel, with comfy beds and spacious rooms. A few minor comments about duvet size and road noise, but overall comfort is highly rated.

The cottage is well-equipped with kitchenware, board games, and outdoor games. Some minor maintenance issues were noted, such as a leaking shower, oven door, and dated bathrooms, but these did not detract significantly from guests' enjoyment.

Guests frequently mention thoughtful touches such as welcome packs, festive decorations, and even treats for dogs. Please note that these gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

The parish of Dethick, Lea and Holloway is steeped in history and Lea is also recorded in the Domesday Book as Lede; the famous Florence Nightingale spent much of her early life at Lea Hurst. The peaceful village of Lea offers visitors friendly pubs, tea rooms, restaurants and the famous John Smedley factory. Rural Derbyshire is a real treasure trove offering everything for the visitor including country houses, historic halls, medieval ruins, heritage railways, cycleways, beautiful unspoilt countryside and pretty villages. One of the closest attractions to Lea Hall is the Heights of Abraham. Built on the site of historic lead mining, the hilltop park is approached by cable car which rises up and offers some spectacular views of the Derwent Valley and surrounding Peak District. Visitors can tour the network of caverns and passageways left behind and explore the 60 acres of woodland hillside and buy souvenirs at the gift shop. We really enjoyed our stay at Catmint Cottage. It’s a lovely cottage, well equipped and tastefully decorated, with plenty of space for 5 adults. The weather was gorgeous so we spent a lot of time across the road in the meadow, and enjoyed playing with the outdoor games from the shed to the left of the house. The dog had a great time with lots of walks from the door. Thanks for the welcome goodies which were quickly devoured!! We would definitely visit again!
