About this property
Matlock 2 miles. This lovely stone barn conversion is situated next to the owners’ 17th century farmhouse, on their working arable farm, high up on Matlock Moor, just two miles north of the beautiful spa town of Matlock. Tastefully furnished, this cosy cottage is ideal for walkers, as trails run right through the farm and past the doorstep, and those who take their walk following a small white ball around will feel chipper knowing that the prestigious Matlock Golf Club is just 130 yards away. The sitting room with dining area has wooden flooring and is a sociable place to enjoy a meal and to snuggle up on the big squishy sofa in front of the woodburner-effect stove.
Step through to the well-equipped kitchen with breakfast bar, where you will find everything you need to create a culinary masterpiece, or fuel up in preparation for the many and varied adventurous days the area has to offer. On the first floor is a double bedroom and a convertible twin room for flexibility, which have lots of natural light, and there’s also a contemporary shower room off the landing. Outside is a large lawn, so you can sit and watch the sun go down with a glass of something you fancy. Close by is the popular town of Matlock, along with the neighbouring Matlock Bath, where you will find a number of shops, pubs and restaurants, along with the attractions of Gulliver’s Kingdom and the Peak District Mining Museum.
Also within reach are the towns of Bakewell, Ashbourne and Buxton, as well as the magnificent Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall. A comfortable base for your Peak District getaway.
The popular town of Matlock has been attracting visitors to the area since the spa was developed in the late 17th century. The Matlocks offer a number of shops, pubs and restaurants, along with the attractions of Riber Castle, Gulliver’s Kingdom and the Peak District Mining Museum. Close by are the market town of Bakewell and Chatsworth House and Park, as well as many other attractions to visit.

Lovely walks right from the cottage. We loved the dogs on the farm who would greet us everyday, and the friendly sheep. There were a few niggles that could be easily sorted for a more comfortable stay, like when we opened the dishwasher there was a pungent sewage smell that disappeared after we ran it, but there were no dishwasher tablets. The washing up liquid was running out, we also ran out of toilet roll. A few more towels would have been handy. The cottage felt a little dusty and there was some dog hair around, but appreciate it's a dog friendly cottage and it was good value. Owner was very responsive and helpful.

Cottage had everything we could possibly need - comfortable interior, perfect location, well stocked kitchen and friendly owners (who lived on site but were not at all intrusive and answered any questions we had immediately)

Good facilities throughout especially the kitchen which was well equipped. It was nice to be able to sit out in the garden at the back in the warm weather. The cottage is on a working farm so there is a bit of tractor action but we didnt find it affected us at all. Would definitely recommend
