Snaptrip says

Guests consistently praise Wharf Cottage for its excellent location, comfort, and cleanliness. The property's proximity to walking trails, pubs, and restaurants, as well as historical sites, makes it a highly recommended stay. The thoughtful touches, including a welcome pack, add to the charm of this well-equipped and beautifully presented cottage.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The majority of guests found the cottage to be spotlessly clean, with only one report of an issue with cleanliness. This appears to be an isolated incident, as the overwhelming feedback is positive regarding the property's cleanliness.

The location is highly praised for its convenience to walking trails, local amenities, and historical attractions. Guests appreciate the ability to enjoy their stay without the need for a car, indicating an exceptional location.

Reviewers frequently mention the comfort of the cottage, noting the quality of the furnishings and the cosy atmosphere. The property is described as warm, welcoming, and spacious, suggesting a high level of comfort.

Facilities are generally well-regarded, with mentions of a well-equipped kitchen, secure bike storage, and a garden. However, there are a few comments about the difficulty of using the TV and the hot water not being hot enough, which slightly lowers the score.

Guests frequently express gratitude for the welcome pack and other treats provided, reflecting the owners' thoughtfulness. While these gifts are greatly appreciated, it is noted that such extras, while delightful, are subject to change and not guaranteed.

About this property

A beautifully restored cottage. The shuttered windows, old panelled doors, traditional fireplaces, lovely furniture and every modern facility say it all!

A quaint little cottage in the heart of the Derwent Valley, sitting besides Cromford Canal. Wharf is a lovely traditional cottage, part of the former Wharf Manager's House, beautifully decorated with original and new features and super comfortable furnishings. Sit back in front of the log effect gas stove with a good book, or cook up a delicious meal in the farmhouse style kitchen next to the old stone fireplace to enjoy around the dining table with your family. Wonderfully comfortable beds will ensure you get a restful night’s sleep ready for tomorrow's activities.

Just outside, wander down the canal into Cromford and feed the ducks or pop into the friendly local village pub for a pint. Have a tour and learn about the village’s history at Cromford Mill and Mason Mill - the heart of Sir Richard Arkwright’s Industrial Revolution. Explore the surrounding attractions, such as Matlock Bath and it’s Switzerland gorge, independent shops and riverside prom. Travel to the grand Chatsworth House, the market town of Bakewell or historic Haddon Hall. Alternatively, choose one of the many footpaths and have a walk in the Peaks to take in the breath-taking views, one of the more local ones being from Cromford Wharf to High Peak Junction. Head up to Black rocks with a picnic, or just have a stroll along The Derwent Valley Heritage Trails that runs through Cromford.

Lovely week by the canal with walking from the doot. We didn't use the car once as weather kind and lots to see and do around the cottage. House well equipped, spotlessly clean and very comfortable, best welcome pack we have ever recieved the cake was delicious thank you. We enjoyed watching the comings and goings along the wharf and noise from car park did not intude even on busy Bank Holiday.

Lovely, quirky property with an old fashioned/traditional feel...something we like very much. All amenities needed are there. House is very clean. Really appreciated the 'welcome' pack left for us. A good base for exploring the area. All appliances in the kitchen are electrical which leaves me wondering how safe a water fire extinguisher is....perhaps a foam or powder extinguisher would be better. However, we really enjoyed our much needed break..thank you x Owner replies: thank you for your feedback and this issue has been reviewed and dealt with.

A fabulous house, well equipped if you’ve got small children. With stair gates, high chair and cot, and easy access straight onto the canal for walks. The house was very clean and lots of thought had been put into small touches. We will definitely be back.
