A super little retreat in brilliant Belper with lots of local shops, restaurants, pubs and even an award winning little cinema.
Clinging to the side of the valley, Hannay Cottage was originally an old mill worker’s abode and has been carefully renovated into a superbly appointed retreat, whilst still retaining some of its original features. The living room with its traditional fireplace and log burning stove is the perfect place to relax in after a long day exploring the town of Belper.
The views of the town from the cottage and garden are simply wonderful. If you feel the need for refreshment, there's a host of cafés, pubs and restaurants where you will find a friendly welcome, locally-produced food, real ales and live music, all sat amongst the independent shops that helped Belper win the 2019 Great British High Street Award.
Further afield, you are just a short drive away from the Peak District National Park where there is so much to visit. How about a cable car ride in Matlock, devouring a pudding in Bakewell or a tour around Chatsworth House; the options are endless!

We had a lovely week staying at Hannay cottage. Weather was beautiful and we visited Matlock Bath and the Heights of Abraham. Visited Nottingham by train and had some lovely walks in and around Belper. Cottage beautifully maintained and very cosy would love to return in Winter for me to get good use out of the log burner. 5 stars !
