About this property

Horsley Woodhouse 2.1 miles. Situated near a working farm in Coxbench, Derbyshire, home to sheep, chickens, and at the correct time of year, lambs, is this exquisite, single-storey barn conversion, Churn Dash Cottage. Encompassed by luscious countryside while enjoying the comforts of a Smart TV and a hot tub, this holiday home is perfect for a family or a group of friends to escape to the country. Off-road parking greets you before stepping into the open-plan living space, sure to be the social hub of the holiday. The kitchen offers an induction hob and an American-style fridge/freezer so the chef of the family can rustle up a tasty dinner to enjoy out on the patio or at the dining table for four. Complete with a feature fireplace, the sitting area welcomes you to unwind in front of the Smart TV after a day of walking and exploring the area. When sleep calls, two well-presented bedrooms provide the perfect place to rest your head; one king-size bedroom has its own en-suite so you won't be short for places to freshen up, while the twin bedroom benefits from a zip/link feature for a flexible sleeping arrangement, and electric controls, making it ideal for a multi-generational family holiday. There's also a family shower room, fit with a walk-in shower so you can rinse off after a busy day. Outside, take advantage of the beautifully manicured gardens, and take a dip in the hot tub, or make use of the outdoor bar to finish off the evening. If you can tear yourself away from this wonderful cottage, there are plenty of walking and cycling as well as nearby golfing opportunities in the area, or you can head outside of the village for attractions and dining options. Belper is a charming market town home to a variety of interesting attractions; the Belper River Gardens are a lovely spot for a walk, and Eyes Meadow is a great place for a picnic, while history buffs will enjoy the Strutt's North Mill Museum, one of the oldest mills in the country. Matlock is a charming market town perfect for a day out of exploring. There are plenty of attractions to keep you busy, including the Heights of Abraham, Matlock Bath Aquarium and arcade, and for children and animal-lovers, Matlock Farm Park. Churn Dash Cottage is a superb choice for a memorable break to Derbyshire.

Horsley Woodhouse is a small village between Kilburn and Stanley Common, near Derby and the Peak District National Park. The village's annual carnival in July includes a float parade with prizes for the best float. In addition to a village shop and two pubs, this lovely residential area has everything visitors need to stock up on essentials or go out for the evening. The city of Derby is easily accessible from Horsley Woodhouse and offers excellent dining, shopping, and entertainment options, including a museum, a cinema, and lovely parks for a picnic after a day of shopping.

Dawn the owner has thought of everything you might need to enjoy a relaxing stay. We went out during the days and cooked at home and played the board games provided during the evenings. Truly a warm and cosy home away from home. Just perfect. The hot tub is also excellent, just what we needed. Overall a great base location to explore the surrounding area in clean and well maintained comfort.

The beds are so comfy and the whole place was so dark at night that we slept better than we have done for months! Dawn has thought of everything you might need in the kitchen when cooking. The shower was lovely, powerful and instantly hot. The hot tub was the icing on the cake, perfect to sink into. The weather meant we couldn’t make the most of the garden or bar sadly but all looked lovely xx
