This lodge is essentially a large mobile home and laid out as such. It has effective central heating and is well insulated from both cold and the noise of the nearby A50/A38 interchange. Facilities at the marina, which are a 10 minute walk are excellent. Furnishing and beds are comfortable and sturdy and the kitchen mostly well equipped. One surprising omission is that of cleaning equipment of which there was none bar half a bottle of washing up liquid. No tea towels, cleaning cloths, scour sponges etc or detergents and floor cloths to clean pots and crockery or clean the hob, worktop or floor. There is a dishwasher but no tablets. Presumably this is intentional to confine any cleaning to the inter-rental cleaners. The other problem was with the towels provided which were very poorly laundered.Overall, despite these two issues, I would recommend this accommodation (although I think it a little overpriced for what was provided for our stay). Just bring your own towels and cleaning provisions.

Berber is Lodge was really comfortable, spotlessly clean, really well set out and a beautiful, quiet setting. The Marina has great amenities, special mention to The Beetroot Tree and the Lotus Indian restaurant. Even though the marina was full of people it felt private and it was very quiet. This is a wonderful place for dogs, plenty of great walks and we met lovely dogs and owners every day. Would highly recommend Berberis Lodge

We’ve just returned from a wonderful stay at Berberus Lodge and honestly couldn’t fault it. The lodge itself was beautiful – luxurious, spotlessly clean, incredibly comfortable and had absolutely everything we needed. It was also so peaceful, which made it the perfect place to relax and switch off.The marina and surrounding site were just as lovely, with beautiful walks and plenty of space to explore. It was particularly great for us as we had our dog with us and found the whole stay really dog-friendly. The secure gated access also gave us peace of mind, especially with teenage daughters who could happily wander around the marina and make use of the facilities independently.The location is brilliant too – nicely situated between Derby and Nottingham, with so much to do within easy reach. We visited the nearby forest and Go Ape, which was amazing, and loved that we were able to take the dog along with us pretty much everywhere we went.A beautiful lodge, lovely surroundings and a fantastic location for a family break – peaceful when you want to relax but with plenty to do nearby. We had such a lovely time and genuinely can’t wait to return! ❤️🐾
