A quiet comfortable retreat when visiting family in the area. A good base for exploring the locality.Melbourne has some good shops, and the church is definitely worth a visit. Good selection of big stores on outskirts of Ashby, also a farm shop on road to Ashby. Swarkstone garden centre a favourite destination!

We had a wonderful stay over New Year. The cottage is very cosy and nestled at the side of a new forest area. So perfect for walks. It had everything one needs to cook: a hob, an airfryer, microwave and kettle. We were there with two adults and two teenagers and had plenty of space. The only comment I would have is that there are only enough plates for four people and that is sometimes not enough. But definitely would go there again!
