A lack of basic equipment,ie a dustpan and brush, shower head holder taped up with insulating tape and it didn’t work, the shower was good and worked well, but the tape didn’t. It needs a new clip/clamp. No window stays on any of the windows so windows would blow shut. No blind in the toilet/shower room. No oven and just two induction hobs, quite dusty in places and cobwebs in others. The beds were comfortable and the bedding and towels were clean though.

Just returned from Baytree Lodge after staying there for the Download Festival. Excellent location, very quiet and peaceful after the loud music. (Apart from the planes - unavoidable ( East Midlands 4 miles away but not constant, stop during the night and pass quickly!) The Lodge had everything we needed for the weekend and I think I could have got to grips with the microwave combination oven if we had been able to cook evening meals (out from 10am - 1.30am). The shower room has enough space to move around in the shower cubicle and a towel rail. The beds were extremely comfortable - quite Goldilocks - not too hard / not too soft! There is good storage and a comfy settee for relaxing. The outdoor space at the back is not overlooked and very peaceful and lit in the evenings.Thoroughly enjoyed the stay, I'd be happy to use it as a base for exploring on a holiday. We walked down into the village in 15-20 mins and there are several good pub / restaurants, a chemist, post office, bakeries etc.. If you go in the evening take a torch for the walk home as there are no street lights on Robinson Hill and the path from the road to lodge is not lit.

You should be aware that this log cabin has no washing machine, no dishwasher and worst of all NO OVEN, making it difficult to cook. There is noise from low flying planes from East Midlands Airport and from Donnington Park motor racing circuit.. It is situated down a dirt track. It lacks basic equipment, such as potato peeler, wooden spoon, dishcloth , storage containers, bread bin, washing up bowl, dish drainer, wall clock and cushions. There are no games, cards, books or jigsaws. There is outside furniture both front and back and also a herb garden with rosemary and thyme. The Wi Fi signal is good. The beds are comfortable and it overlooks St. Bride’s Wood which is near the site of a Medieval monastery. Melbourne itself is pleasant with Melbourne Gardens containing pigs, sheep and chickens and Kedleston Hall and Calke Abbey are well worth visiting. Derby, which is about 9 miles away has good museums. There is a Sainsburys store in the centre of Melbourne and also a micro brewery. All in all, a good place to stay, but bring your own equipment!
