About this property

The Old Coachhouse is a wonderful detached conversion in a Dorset Village.  A stay at the Old Coachhouse offers our guests a touch of luxury, the bedroom has a super king size double bed and the lounge has a cosy log burner.  The spacious open plan living area has oak flooring and covers the ground floor so cooking, eating and relaxing together is a pleasure.  Situated on the edge of Maiden Newton, a village in the heart of West Dorset's "Hardy country" and Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Only nine miles from the historic county town of Dorchester; look out for our sign on the road between Maiden Newton and Cattistock.  The Old Coachhouse has a private tiered patio area where you can truly feel "far from the madding crowd".  The Old Coachhouse is the perfect location for a romantic self-catering stay in a cottage in Dorset.

Maiden Newton is an ideal base to explore the area, with excellent local facilities and transport links. The Chalk & Cheese (in the village) and The Fox & Hounds (1 mile) offer excellent reasonably priced food. For fine dining try Le Petit Canard in the village. There are also dozens of pubs within a short drive offering everything from snacks to fine dining, and numerous restaurants in nearby Dorchester.

Accommodation: Kitchen / Lounge / dining room with log burner. Stairs to first floor: Bedroom with super kingsize double bed. Shower room with shower, hand basin and toilet, door to garden area.

Services in Addition to standard: WiFi. Dishwasher 3D smart Flat screen TV with Blu-ray DVD, washing machine, freezer. Off road parking. Garden with bistro table and chairs. Bed linen and towels are inclusive. Second access to garden via steps to side of property.

The Old Coach House is a lovely property. It is furnished to a very high standard and was exactly what we wanted. The bed is massive and very comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We would certainly recommend The Old Coach House. Stayed May 2018

We really enjoyed staying at the Old Coach House. The log burner was a great bonus and the cottage had everything we needed. Stayed November 2016

This is one of the most clean, comfortable and well equipped cottages you could ever stay in. Even the little sitting out area with its table, chairs and sun umbrella and the separate drying area have been well thought out and is also secure for dogs to be in. The owners, Karen and Mark are most helpful (they even provide doggie treats, towels and toys for your dog!). Last year 4 of us stayed in their 'Water Meadows' property - which is equally as good. The area is lovely and a great jumping off spot for visiting so many of Dorsets special places.
