Take the stairs up to the roomy open plan living space complete with slate floor, comfy seating and door to steps down to a sunny patio for enjoying barbecues and storing your bikes under cover. You also have an enclosed garden with lawn sheltered by old oak trees. Put on your boots and head out to walk and explore the twelve acres of woods full of wildlife and the bridle path to a conservation area beside the lake in about a mile. The lake itself is fantastic for water sports. You can hire watery equipment, go fishing or tackle the climbing wall and high ropes. Lookout for rare birds as you walk and cycle around the lake. The lovely North Cornwall beaches are great for surfing day trips. Acorn Cottage is a charming base for being active or enjoying the peace.

Lifton is a small village in the upper Tamar Valley, close to Launceston and the passing A30 road into Cornwall. This pretty community, once sitting astride the old A30 London to Penzance trunk road, is blessed with a village shop and post office, a superb pub and 3 top quality restaurants.
