... 2 miles from North Bovey in a lovely setting is Bovey Castle, built in 1907 as a country seat for the heir to the WH Smith empire and now a renowned hotel. Carefully hidden in the grounds are 22 private, granite-built lodges of which we offer 8. These smart, stylish, comfy properties overlook the Edwardian gardens, lake and tennis courts; parking is a 5 minute walk from the lodges (unloading/loading closer). All the hotel facilities are yours to enjoy, including indoor heated swimming pool (65’ x 19'6" x 4'6" deep; no children before 9.30am or after 5.30pm), gym, steam room, sauna, spa (beauty treatments) and restaurant. Outside are hard and grass tennis courts (lessons available), croquet lawn(seasonal) and trampoline.

Supervised playroom for children under 8 (extra, available school holidays and half-terms) with arts and crafts, egg collecting and ferrets. Eight to 14 year olds can join the Bovey Rangers (school holidays only, extra) and enjoy activities ranging from rock climbing to survival skills. Optional activities for adults include archery, rifle shooting, fly fishing, falconry (daily display), riding, clay pigeon shooting and cider and sloe gin making. Mountain bikes for hire. Wrapped around the hotel and lodges is a championship 18 hole golf course with driving range and pro shop; complimentary round (subject to availability, non-transferable) for all guests over 16. If you’d rather something a little quieter, roam the 400 acre estate (wellies provided). If you don’t feel like cooking, order a restaurant meal or pizza to be delivered to your lodge, or, for a special occasion, book a table at the hotel’s restaurant. The friendly hotel staff will help you arrange any activities you wish. Restricted use of hotel and children's facilities from 24 to 27 December and 31 December to 1 January (pool, spa and golf still available). An exceptional place to stay. Ingle Tor is detached (behind A86). From the path, 17 steps up to the front door into hall; cloakroom (loo); open-plan kitchen/dining room (dishwasher, microwave, freezer, larder fridge). Steps down to living room with big sofas, TV/DVD, central stone fireplace (‘living flame’ gas fire) and doors to balcony (tables/chairs). More steps down to lower floor with utility room (washer-drier, sink) and double bedroom (6' zip-linked bed or twin) with en suite bathroom (suite, shower over bath). More steps down to ground floor and another double bedroom (5' bed) with en suite shower-room (suite) and French windows to decking. From the kitchen, stairs up to top floor and the master double (6’ bed) with en suite bathroom (suite, shower over bath plus hand-shower). This lodge is individual, being on many levels.
