About this property

Breathtaking sea views and close to the beach at Bigbury-on-SeaBreathtaking sea views and close to the beach at Bigbury-on-Sea

Bigbury-on-Sea lies within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and has stunning views across the award winning beaches of Bigbury, Bantham and Challaborough. It offers an ideal location for a variety of watersports, great coastal walks, and has an impressive cliff top 18 hole golf course, with magnificent views of the moors and sea in all directions. Just a few minutes away from the property there is a surf school - perfect for the young and young at heart.

The Bay is perched high on the cliffs above Challaborough Beach at Bigbury-on-Sea and benefits from stunning sea views which can also be enjoyed from the large balcony - perfect for enjoying a glass of wine whilst watching the sun go down.

There are several eateries including the award winning Venus Cafe located next to the beach, which offers local organic produce. The Pilchard Inn, located on Burgh Island, offers good basic food and a selection of fine ales.

Burgh Island is linked to Bigbury-on-Sea by a short sandy causeway which, when covered at high tide, can only be crossed using the unique sea tractor. At low tide, the historic Burgh Island is just a short walk away, where famous guests of the beautiful Art Deco hotel have included Agatha Christie, The Beatles, Noel Coward and Edward and Mrs Simpson.

...what they said lovely well appointed accommodation and a fabulous view over the bay. Would recommend Blue Chip to my friends . Submitted by Janice on 16/05/2016

...very well. When we saw the location of this property we had some inkling of what the view would be like, however it far exceeded our expectations. We had uninterrupted views of Challaborough bay from both floors of the property, it was magnificent. The property itself is well appointed and clean and everything had been thought of for us from milk and biscuits for our arrival to a selection of books and DVDs in case the weather was not too good (fortunately we had brilliant weather all week). We will definitely be back. Submitted by Gillian on 01/11/2015

...accommodation. Stunning position - especially when the wind whips up the waves. Plenty of surfing esp. at Challaborough Bay - if that's your pleasure - or superb walks if not. Friendly Beach Café (above B-o-S beach) for breakfast, lunch and dinner. But don't think you'll splash out on a meal at the Burgh Island Hotel: it's closed to non-residents. There is no longer a village shop; it closed in 2014. Excellent shop, though, at St. Ann's Chapel, about 4 miles before you get to B-o-S. Difficult to get a mobile signal - nearest we found was near the golf course, ca. 2-3 miles, but there is a coin-op box in the house. Blue Chip rarely fail to please; thoroughly recommended. P.S. Blue Chip. Please update info on 'village shop and post office'. Mis-leading info caused problems on eve of holiday when we had to pack provisions in a hurry instead of having them delivered.
