A large, pretty, enclosed suntrap courtyard with fountain and flowers is shared with the friendly owners. Just outside the courtyard, a lawned walled garden (also enclosed) with camellias, fig and walnut trees, leading to another captivating garden with pond (unfenced) and 6 grassy acres with big wildlife pond (fenced), benches (terrific long views) and big trees to sit under, inviting you to rest, read or just enjoy the silence and let your mind wander (children should be supervised). L248 and L191 are heated by biomass boiler, using wood from local, sustainable woodland. Spring water. Arrival after 4pm. A peaceful, curative oasis, good for ‘taking it easy’.

... The Gallery is an ‘upside down’ cottage, exceptionally well converted by an award-winning architect, with private enclosed garden (table/chairs) at the back, opening to meadow, with the shared grounds and fields beyond for enjoying birdsong and stars. Inside, designed for simplicity and tranquillity, focusing on long, rural views and original paintings and photographs. On the first floor, wonderful living room with the views, woodburner, TV/DVD and iPod dock; roomy kitchen/dining room (dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, fridge-freezer, cooker with induction hob); big glazed doors to steps down to garden. On the ground floor, two bedrooms looking to the courtyard – a double with en suite shower-room (suite), and a double (6’ bed or twin) with en suite bathroom (suite, shower over bath). Bright and airy in the summer or cosy as a winter retreat, with wonderful walks from the door and beaches within easy reach.
