About this property

A magnificent barn conversion in a peaceful rural setting with open aspects across rolling countrysideA magnificent barn conversion in a peaceful rural setting with open aspects across rolling countryside

Cider Barn at Park Mill Farm is a beautiful period barn conversion delicately converted it provides a tasteful and unique home from home. The original beamed, vaulted ceilings, stylish high quality furniture and underfloor heating make this the perfect blend of traditional and modern living.

The Park Mill Farm cottages are situated in a magical riverside setting, less than a mile from Chulmleigh centre, with 20 acres of lush fields, woods and parkland where you are free to roam along with the abundant wildlife. From the viewing area on top of the hill with bench, to the river and lakeside areas, there is plenty to explore.

Chulmleigh is a Saxon hilltop village made up of thatched cottages, traditional pubs and a small collection of independent shops. There is a kids’ play park and dining options consist of three pubs in the town, a cosmopolitan restaurant and an Indian restaurant/takeaway.

Chulmleigh town centre is now a conservation area and the rich grassland found here is home to the largest population of otters in any natural area in England. The area provides access to an abundance of leisure activities including walking, cycling, fishing, golf and horse riding along with a number of historic houses and gardens in the vicinity.

Guests can enjoy the best of coast and country with Dartmoor and Exmoor nearby, as well as the North Devon coast in one direction and the cathedral city of Exeter in the other, all within an hour’s drive.

Just a short drive away from Park Mill Farm Cottages, you can experience the range of luxurious facilities on offer at Highbullen Golf and Country Club including tennis courts, a pool, fitness suite, and a range of spa treatments if you fancy being pampered.

Fishing at Park Mill Farm

"This is an accommodating little river in a lovely Devon valley where time really does seem to stand still."Mike Weaver, Trout And Salmon magazine, Feb. 2009.

There are two rivers (The Little Dart and Huntacott)  meandering through the grounds  and a private fishing lake where guests can enjoy free fly and coarse fishing and catch Carp,  Rudd, Chubb, Roach, Brown Trout and Tench. There is also complimentary fishing on both rivers where Brown Trout, Sea Trout and Salmon can be caught together with Coarse fish.

Each cottage has a working fire and bags of wood can be purchased locally.
For larger groups, all of the Park Mill Farm Cottages can be booked together to sleep 18.

...of the week in our stay at Cider Barn. The location is one of splendid isolation mixed with modern amenities and excellent accommodation. The cottage itself was delightful with everything you needed. The barn was beautifully and efficiently designed to cater for all your needs whilst at the same time giving you a genuine, cottage experience. The location gave you a wonderful sense of isolation in amongst farm fields with its own lake and Lakeland walks. At the same time it was only minutes away from the local village of Chumleigh that had its own wonderful charm with easy access to main routes in and around Devon. John and Sue the owners of the barns were lovely people who delivered a perfect balance of letting you know they were there for you if you needed anything but left you to your own enjoyment. Excellent sums it all up. We will be back. Submitted by Trisha on 06/06/2016

...is remote and away from the hustle and bustle. The grounds are fabulous and the fishing pond superb ( I even caught a fish). Chulmleigh is a lovely friendly village. The cottage itself is well equipped and has everything you would need. If you want somewhere to go for peace, quiet and to relax then this is a great little gem. Submitted by Tracy on 23/08/2015

...barn lovely inside, with everything you need although a travel style hairdryer would be useful. A lovely cream tea awaited us on arrival, much appreciated after a long journey, such a thoughtful touch. Internet access not good. Would certainly love to revisit. Submitted by Janet on 06/06/2015
