About this property

... a mile from Membury, sitting peacefully among surrounding country lanes looking over a scenic valley, is pretty, Grade II listed Lea Hill. A Quaker farm and meeting place for much of the time since its 14th cent. origins, the thatched Devon long house and its former barns now accommodate the helpful owners and six attractive cottages, of which we let two

Each cottage has a small sunny seating area (table/benches) for enjoying superb long views and shares the surrounding 7 acres of beautifully kept communal grounds (thatched summer house, barbecue area). Spring water. Shared laundry room (washer-driers). A tranquil spot in a beautiful rural setting close to Dorset’s famous ‘Jurassic Coast’.

Quakers: a thatched, semi-detached cottage. Galley kitchen (slimline dishwasher, microwave, washing machine, freezer, fridge) with fitted table/chairs, tiled floor and door to lawned seating area. Cosy living room (TV/DVD) with electric ‘living flame’ fire. Upstairs, two pretty bedrooms with original beams – a double (5’6” door lintel) with neat en suite shower-room (suite), and, down 2 small steps, a twin (linkable to 6’ double) with lovely valley views, stripped pine floors and en suite bathroom (suite, shower over bath).

"Beautiful location & exceptionally peaceful. Wonderful local produce at all the farm shops & delicious food everywhere we ate locally. A hidden gem not far off the main west country holiday routes"

  • Mrs S Mckinney

"A little gem of a cottage nestled in the beautiful Devon countryside but not too far to beaches. . Nothing flash and full of old world charm , Ideal for small families and dogs. (dogs goody bag was very useful) . Kitchen small and bijou but cleverly crafted had all that was required. Our girls loved their bedroom and the Lego was a huge hit. Susan and Paul are very friendly people and were on hand should we require anything, we were met by their son delivering fresh spring flowers to the cottage. Just a note the rear fire exit upstairs does lead into the main farmhouse but clearly is a necessity in a thatched cottage of this style."

"This cottage was the best equipped, both in quantity & quality that we have ever experienced. Design of kitchen sink a little awkward but not a major problem. Location stunning; lane to gain access exciting;plenty of lovely walking & very friendly locals."
