This area is ideal for walking and cycling both locally and further afield. Locally you can explore Farleton Knott which has superb, far reaching views of the area from the sea to the Lakeland fells and is renowned for butterflies, impressive lime stone pavements and fossil beds. The charming market village of Kirby Lonsdale is well worth a visit with its pretty river, medieval Devils Bridge and an array of good quality eateries, pubs serving local ales and even a chocolatier and old fashioned sweet shop as well as an ancient church. Locally, Silverdale and Arnside are both worthy of a visit with ample walking and glorious cafés and pubs serving traditional ale along the coast, while Silverdale also has Leighton Moss RSPB where rare birds, otters and deer can often be seen. Opposite here is a golf course if you fancy a round and the railway station where you could hop on a train and visit Grange over Sands across the viaduct in less than 15 minutes or head to Arnside. This area is also has beautiful historic houses and gardens from Levens Hall with its world-class topiary gardens, Sizergh Castle with an ancient medieval hall and oldest known leather panelling and Holker Hall; all also have delicious eateries and artisan shops. With Kendal and Windermere within easy reach along with Ingleton and Ingleton Falls you will be spoilt for choice for your days out. A small, traditional Cumbrian village set in beautiful countryside and ideally placed for exploring Southern Lakeland, the Yorkshire Dales and the peaceful Forest of Bowland. The village has a Post Office/general store, a butcher and a pub that serves good food. It lies 7 miles from the lovely old market town of Kirkby Lonsdale, and 12 miles from Kendal, the gateway to the Lake District. There is easy access to many areas of interest, with the historic city of Lancaster and the seaside resorts of Morecambe and Blackpool all within easy reach.
