About this property

Burton-in-Kendal 0.8 miles. This delightful semi-detached character cottage is located on the edge of Burton-in-Kendal village, with views to the open countryside and nestled beneath Farleton Knott in the south lakes. On entering this cottage you will immediately see the lovely character from the old barn doors used for the downstairs cloakroom to the original stone walls in the dining and living areas with the wooden original shutters at the windows, large beams and vaulted ceiling. The sitting room has a large woodburner in the centre with a seating area to the front and back with a lovely beamed fireplace. Upstairs, there are three generous bedrooms all with countryside views with latch doors and two bathrooms with baths and showers, so you may soak in a bath after the day’s exertions. Outside the lounge through the French doors there is a delightful patio which is perfect for a morning drink whilst planning the day’s activities. Walking and cycling beckon you from the door as this cottage lies beneath Farleton Knott where there are glorious lime stone pavements and this particular area is also prolific for butterflies. There are stunning views from here to the lakeland fells and also the Morecambe Bay estuary. Arnside and Silverdale are a short drive away and are both areas of outstanding natural beauty, well worth a visit for there are superb walks along the coast. In Silverdale there is also the Leighton Moss RSPB which you can walk through and then walk through the grounds of Leighton Hall or perhaps have a round of gold at the Silverdale golf course which is opposite. Both villages have an array of cafes and good pubs. Also close by, are historic houses with Sizergh Castle, Levens Hall with its world-class topiary and the first ever Ha Ha garden and Holker Hall, all of which have super cafes for refreshments. A short drive away is the attractive historic Kirkby Lonsdale with its cobbled streets and interesting array of independent shops, lovely eateries and ancient church. You may even catch a weekend when they have a brass band in the old market square. There is also a delightful river walk with views to Yorkshire which is also on your door step. With Kendal also a short drive away and Windermere and Ambleside just a little further afield, they are all very accessible and this cottage is ideally placed to explore the rest of the Lake District National Park. After your day's activities, return to this wonderful cottage, open the French doors and enjoy your favourite beverage on the patio with birdsong or, when cooler, cosy down in front of the woodburner. This delightful cottage is an ideal choice for your holiday at any time of the year. Note: This property can be booked with Ref. 930492, together they sleep 9.

A small, traditional Cumbrian village set in beautiful countryside and ideally placed for exploring Southern Lakeland, the Yorkshire Dales and the peaceful Forest of Bowland. The village has a Post Office/general store, a butcher and a pub that serves good food.
